I have a pond about 50 feet out my door and we've had a drought for months. They haven't officially called it a drought, but our pond had gone down by 5 feet. The fires will start any day now. In this pic, the water is usually up where the bush line begins. Where I'm standing is usually about 4 ft of water at the least.
The up side is that it makes catching bass pretty easy. I caught 5 of these in 30 min. and 3 more got off the hook. The biggest one is only about 7lb. in it. This gut is prob. 4lb.

You make me sick.
Actually you make me jealous.
Awesome situation to have. Even with low water level. My son would have been out there every day. Catching and releasing.
p.s. I think it's drought.

Whatcha catch em on?

@ScreenXpress
No Prob. Thanks. I thought I spelt it right and then checked before posting, ....then you posted that. Making me think, am I not reading it right? Is my dislexia getting that bad? Ha I think I did spell it right, or am I missing something? LOL. I don't think I edited it. Anyways, no matter. It's not like I've never miss spelt something. :) Thanks.
@ Donnie, The red one.

dan, do you fish many buzz-baits there?
-
Fished a local pond most of yesterday for nada.
I can see all the males guarding the beds.
I wonder where mama went?
-
I was at the pond feeding the catfish. Pretty good size for a pond in the back of the house. Right about two feet long. SO while not fishing, I was entertained by fish. Does that count? ;D

I have got to slow down, I have a 3 1/2 to 4 ac. pond and have to hire someone to fish and just come by and let me smell the fish on there hands :(. Plan on going this weekend to set some hooks and trout lines out on the river for flat head or some call yellow cat. It is the ones that the tv shows catch with bare hands. No that is not how we're gonna catch them. Ain't no way I would stick my hands in some the the holes around here to see what is in them!
-
Anyone here catch any snakeheads? I know here in PA if you catch one you are told to put a knife through its head and call the game warden. They are trying to track their migration to other bodies of water. They consider flatheads invasive also here.

I would not work if I could not fish. I dream of having my own pond.

ebscreen, I have found out in the last 16 yrs that having a pond has some work involved in it.... Lot of grass and weed eating to do :) I feed mine pretty often just bream no catfish unless they got in off bird poop. When feeding I have some nice bass come in for a easy meal and if you catch one of those bream you had better be ready for a big tug if the bass gets ahold of them.... I use to have time to just go and have quite time sitting and relaxing, really need to get back to it lot of good prayer time :)
-
Come in off bird poop? huh?
-
birds eat fish ( catfish or polly woggs ) and poop in pond and believe it or not if they poop eggs the eggs hatch and waalaa you have poly woggs
-
Cool. Learn something new everyday

I had never heard of the bird poop thing, but had often wondered how the heck the bluegills got
into literally every body of water. Nature never ceases to amaze.
Out here, they stock bass for mosquito control in nearly all ponds. No complaints on my part.
Find the time to find the time, eh? I made a set rule a few years back of not working on the weekends.
I've only broken it once or twice since then.
Just got a 14,000 piece order in though. Both sides to boot. Luckily there is no firm deadline, or it might
cut into my fishing time, and that ain't happening.

I do not work at the shop but the things around the house never seem to get caught up. You work trying to get a spot of land ( 45 acr. ) then you work trying to keep it all up.. go figure. I had the fish and game come out and check my pond and see what the average was on fish. To my suprise they said if you want big bass ( I do ) then keep all under 2lbs anything over throw it back. They said I would not have an abundance of bream or blue gil but they would be large and they are. I have caught several bass over 10 lbs but am looking for the majic 12 number. I am sure she is there just got to hook her in the winter which is when I catch the big ones and they have not layed out.
