Are these Newman frames or some knockoffs?
Thanks
-
These are really light and corners look like plastic.

Newmans.
Old MZX with the composite corners.
Still good frames, just not for 50 Newton stretches.
Check the corners for splits, over torquing bolts can do that.
$10-$15 each is a good price.

got a few they are bitch to get flat

Give me a few more weeks and I'll likely be getting rid of most of my MZX's (newer style).

Did you send the package, I thought that you were shipping vinyl on Wednesday.
Do I want them, Free Frame is a Free Frame :)
I think I was ripped on these, but working with the seller to replace them.
I really have luck with screens/frames it seams :(
I specifically asked them if these are ones with metal corners and with Newman stamped on those corners, they kind off omitted that answer. Now, if they do not want to take them back, I will dispute the credit card charge and let them pick them up or send me a shipping label. They are trying to sell me other ones now, but I do not want to talk until I hear what they will do about these. They have found the wrong person to mess with...

I'm working on getting an auto and they won't really fit.

I have a hand full of those frames and NO!!! they won't take a really high tension, they start to bow in. I think I,ve gotten them up to around 30n, but they will make good prints and I use them in my Mini Horizon press.

They're newmans, they're not bad. They are kinda hard to level. I keep a couple around for super high tolerance jobs ( ::)) on the ancient rear-clamp Hopkins.
They're better than the statics you keep getting. ;D

I know that they are better than statics, but not for $20/screen.
It bugs me that they omitted to give me an answer when I asked about metal corners and when they told me that they would clean them and get the ripped mesh out of them.

it shipped. the frames didn't fit in the tube so we have to send them separate. I'll dig up some mesh and toss it in there too. We used these frames for 60 & 24 mesh, they worked ok, just take your time. Gilly may have the best deal going here. 10.00ea, clear him out :P

$20 is too much I think, but the inability to get to 50 newtons, since award winning work is being done with 25 newtons on static frames, should not really figure in.

I'm not worried about 50 N/cm, if I could get them to 30-35 I would be OK with it. At least I would be able to control it and not be at the mercy of the mesh/frame.
But what bugs me is that I was sold something I did not asked for. This will be the last time I'm dealing with this "reputable" company (not Sonny or anybody else I mentioned before in my posts).
Gilly, sign me up too :)

You guys are pretty funny.

I send an email to Don Newman asking him about the frames and if I could hold 30-35 N/cm on those:
"No the original M-1 NRFrames were engineered for only 20 to 22 Newtons back then.
And the hardware on your 30+ year old M-1 frames are corroded and the small plastic hardware will not likely make it that high in Newtons. If it does manage to get to 20 or 22 Newtons, it will not last very long before they break. I hate to see so many well meaning printers taken of advantage of like this.
This happens to a lot of printers buying used frames. They are often not the model frames they need, very dirty, and damage that becomes obvious after a while, or there is hidden damage
inside of the rollers and components.
I suggest you work to return them and get all of your money back."

FYI, New MZX's are only rated for 30N/cm.

I've got 20 of those frames with the composite corners in pristine condition. They are perfect for the Murakami S thread mesh, but anything needing more tension doesn't work well. I stretched a 135/48 on one a while back and got it to 25 newtons with about the same bowing as a 10 year old M3 has at 50-55 newtons. I thought about using mine to put low mesh/thin thread/thick stencil for athletic numbering but also thought about giving them away to whoever buys the vastex manual.
