Epson 4880 for $750 (with clogged head)  is this a good price?

He says he was quoted $250.00 for the head if he were to put it in and $75.00 if the Co installed it.

YES NO?

No. In contrast I know it is an older printer but I picked up an Epson 7600 for if i remember correctly under $200 and it works great. Just haven't set it up for printing films yet.

pass on it. theres probably more wrong than just the head at this point and no way to test.  dude should put the head in himself and then try and get the 750, but no way as is.

or, offer something way low and install it your self and see.  Brian at film direct could probably set you up with a head and he made a video to show me how to do it that us probably still online.  It's basically like working on a japanese car from the nineties....that was made at a cracker jack factory.  Not exactly a good time but do able.

EPSON had the 4880 for sale at $1k after rebate two time in last two years. I paid $350 for our 4800 with 3600 prints. so another NO here. . .

No. Heads are a little scarce, due to dtg use. Dampers probably clogged, lines should be replaced.
We do this as regular maintenance on a 4880 based neoflex.
We got a 4880 in perfect shape for films for 650.
A 7600 for 600 in perfect order.

I'd keep looking

Keep looking, and depending on what you want from it, the 4000 is a nice printer as well.

That said, Epsons really are pretty robust. I'd wager a bunch of head cleanings, maybe some soaking,
maybe some pulling of lines and lightly injecting cleaning solution though the head would take care of it.

Epsons/techs are quick to suggest new heads, but it's been my experience that they are rarely beyond saving.
