Title: Anyone Use Manual Screens on Their Auto
Post by: Logoman on August 15, 2012, 11:17:56 PM: When I first got my Auto I thought the only Screens you could use were the 23 X 31. Now we use the 23 X 31 and our Manual 20 X 24. Anyone else do this?

Same here. We have 20x24's we still use for some random manual stuff but never put that on the auto. Too small of a image area.

Post by: Ksports on August 16, 2012, 01:08:00 PM: One of the resons for the standardization is that that this allows for maximum flexibility. Most graphics can run on any auto or manual as the schedule requires.

wouldnt a screen with a shorter length require the screen holder to be moved over the platen - possibly requiring an increase of the off contact so the platen dosent touch screen holder...

Post by: 3Deep on August 16, 2012, 05:25:14 PM: My press is setup for 20x24 manual frames even though I can go just a bit bigger, so what is a standard size image for you all?....I,m 12 1/2w x 12h or 13 1/2h. If your getting 13 x 19 film like me or using the big roll stuff which I use from time to time.

It works... but I'd love to be able to use wider screens.
Having a couple more inches of width would make ink management easier.

One of the best things we did was standardize on and autosized frame. We run 23 x 33 for every job. I know it can be a waste of emulsion, but it's just so much easier when dealing with only one size frame
