Title: What are you guys using for a shipping scale?
Post by: Gilligan on August 30, 2012, 06:43:33 PM
I'm tired of cheap scales breaking or getting WAY off... no I'm not fat and over loading them! :p

Of course I'm also a tight wad and don't want to pay a lot for anything much less a scale that doesn't make me money.

Even which scales to avoid would be usable information.

Bathroom scale. Been working fine for years so no reason
to replace it.

At my old job we used the analog type scales you see at Uline and such. They
were great for awhile but they did eventually defecate the bed.

When in doubt, add a pound. Haven't been corrected by UPS in years.

Every generic bathroom scale I know is off by at LEAST 5 lbs one way or another.

This "digital" one that we have now is off by like 20 lbs!  It was off by less but then I jumped on it to try and shake it back in to place and it went WAY off. LOL

I picked up one of these. I dont use it every day but it is accurate between what it says and what the scale says at my shipping store I drop off at.

I use one of these (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31dqjkcOWlL._SS500_.jpg) mostly because I got it Gilly style, $5 at a garbage sale.

It does, however have the advantage of the box not covering up the reading like a typical bathroom scale.
I do like that digital one with the remote readout though, but it's pretty much a moot point with me. (Besides individual shirts via flat rate priority mail for some special deals, I have shipped less than a dozen jobs in 24 years.

Nice... only remote display one I saw on amazon was $150 and that seemed a little steep for me... unless it's the last scale I ever buy.

Looks like I need to place an order... or at least do a tad bit more research for longevity sake.

The one that Gerry linked looks pretty nice.

I like it cause you can mount the display up on the wall.

we ship every item we make.  Bathroom scale for bulk Tshirt orders.  It's digital--every now and then we would put a weight on it to make sure its right...and it appears to be, if not close..

USPS postal scale under 10lbs.
