We are trying to print a job with Sericol Florescent Magenta, and it keeps giving us the consistency of old Nickelodeon's Slime!
It's super weird, it's really strange. Normal inks stick to the side of our plastic container, but this ink just kind of clumps together and sloshes around. When it's on the screen it's like the pigment is dettaching from the base, and it appears to be really really wet or slick.
We are pulling it straight from the bucket, and adding 4% activator.
any ideas? is it a bad batch of ink maybe?

I noticed that with all the colors, it seems wierd in the bucket like that. BTW you may want to go down to 3% on the flouros.

Never get that with Texcharge except....when it's spent after 8hrs. It feels like it's "coming apart" then. It's very on/off though, like flipping a switch, you just know it's done. Not like a constant thing while printing. You didn't wait too long on it did ya? They aren't kidding about the life after activating it seems.
Are you stirring the living hell out of that bucket at high speed?
And are you mixing that activator well with water before mixing into the ink, again at high speed?

are you supposed to mix the activator with water? we've always just mixed the powder in!

I've begun mixing the powder with water first and then mixing into the ink, works alot better. I only stir with ink knives. What are you using when you say high speed mixing?

I have printed a few fluoros in the Sericol WB Discharge line. I liked them a lot and didn't ever have that SLIME thing happen.
Unfortunately, our main custy for that specialty line didn't care for the reduced UV performance compared to plastisol fluoros with a full white printer underneath. "Good.... but not great...." or something like that, so we went back to plastisol.
If I were you, I'd call Fujufilm (tech support maybe?) at their toll free number, 800-255-4562. Gail at ext 3568 has had a lot of experience on a print room floor doing discharge, and seems pretty knowledgeable. BTW, she told me once the shirt printing facility at which she worked always started out with fresh discharge ink after the lunch break. She insisted on it. I inferred that the ink is best dumped after around 4 hours. Dunno........

try some warm water to dissolve the activator and whatever mixin' device you have that can attach to a drill.

its usually just magenta and fluor mag. try 3% activator and that should take care of it. also if any formula that you use has any more that 50% magenta go low on the activator. its something to do with the pigment.
