Title: Nylon pennies
Post by: sweetts on September 28, 2012, 09:31:06 AM

So I am looking to do vinyl on nylon pennies, I see the easy weed for nylon vs cotton is pressed  15-20 degrees hotter, is this correct or a typo? Also any recommendations on what To use? Its just ten peices so I don't want to screen them.

pinnies, not pennies.

nylon is a higher temp material, it's polyester that melts at a lower temp.  test 1 out at a lower temp and see how it performs.

Just FYI the Easy weed Extra from Sisner is great for poly to nylon, will not work on cotton at all. I use it on bags works great light pressure (70) on gx24 and slow speed 5-10 per second. 15 seconds is about right, if sits on top material, reheat press with Teflon and little more pressure. usually light pressure on heat press for this. pillows help with this also.

Yes, Sisar's Extra presses at 320 which is hotter than their regular Easy Weed (300)
Specialty Material's Extra is 310-315 as opposed to their regular Thermo-Flex at 330
