Contrary to what most believe some brands/colors work quite well
-
good, i've got one coming up soon.
also how well do the american apparel neons discharge? I am thinking of doing a DC UB with plastisol on top to prevent bleeding and get good opacity.
-
Not sure on those> Am testing the new Gildan heathers soon. Some are 90/10
-
I will let you know then, because I am sure i am doing these later this week or next.
-
Next Level CVC line N6210/N6610 discharges well to white, triblend not so much. Tony, what shirt is that?

a white discharge UB will not help at all. these Neons are AWFUL for bleeding. At least the yellow and orange.
-
i am doing pink I think. Have you tried a DC UB on these? Should water base inks technically not allow bleeding?
I am not looking forward to these suckers.
-
That shirt was a Canvass dark heather
-
Brad, just use a good lb white, watch the temp. We run wfx epic quick on these, no issues. I'd gamble half the bleed issues I'm reading about on these are from too much heat under the flash.
Disc ub sounds like an unnecessary hassle. They don't discharge well at all in my experience.
Tony I can't see yer pic but we've been stunned at how well some poly blends can discharge.
-
oh theres the pic, nice yellow, whose is it?

Neat.
Was it a US 'guaranteed dischargable' style, or an imported style?
-
All inks Sericol. Blue is GS 50/50base to color. Canvas blank style 3001 made in Egypt thats all I know

I just printed 500 of the antique red and orange this last week (90/10). They look nice. The dye comes off on your hands and pallets. The dye didn't bleed into the inks. I used Wilflex quick white.

Discharged Cardinal Heather Gildan? Yeah, it works! Yeah its 50/50!

Most if not all of those will work. Its another myth I'll be busting April PW mag. Eleven years ago the ink mfgrs insisted that they would not work and begged me not to try. I had a bunch of Alternative Apparel colored heathers that AA gave me so we threw them on the press and bam! It was one of our ten color Indian Motorcycle Pinup Girl designs sim process discharge and that literally changed everything.
I've posted the picture before.

Get OUT!!.... 50/50?!!?
I'm missing the boat on some of these colors/blends. I have run some hoodies that did pretty well, and was surprised.
Good to know....

Posted this in another thread. 50/50 Kelly Green Heather from Optima. Sericol discharged right to the color.

Grief. We avoid DC on Kelly Green like the plague, much less 50/50. I'm going to forward this thread to the office help. We need to rethink and retool, I guess.

From just now. Four colors no base top is blk mid dark heather blend, bottom black before cure

Tonypep, you seem to be the leading discharge guy here question I had trouble the other day getting a white to discharge on a black tee, was using plasticharge from union ink, I think I might have mixed to much agent is that possible?

I say we all get together with some torches and pitch forks and force tonypep to give lessons at his place ... Or else!

Not a fan of Plasticharge hybrids at all especially with opaque inks like white. They will not work with many colors in the Maxopaque series for instance.
To quote Shawshank.....
If you've come this far maybe you're willing to come a little further......try discharge white.

Tony, on stuff like this do you use a final crush screen for better blending?
I've noticed on some of our stuff that if the final color is supposed to blend
it doesn't as well as the colors that had been stepped on. Still awesome, but
you can sometimes see dots.
-
Crush screen helps but I'm not trying to win awards and customers don't notice. At four feet away dots aren't visible and that's more than good enough. BTW it's probably not apparent in the pic but the colors shifted on the heather blend. Since it doesn't discharge quite as well the colors were deeper in hue. Especially apparent in the pink and orange. More on that later.
We're having our infamous T-Day Throwdown and I have to deep fry a few turkeys!
