Title: In Corel, I want to squish some type

Not just make it squat, but to get the "accordion" look of a crushed can.
I am just doing the word "SODA" in Boink or something similar, to add to a simple graphic I have of a crushed can

Ideas?

I just tried, I started by edit envelope, but got more ugly distortion than sharp "crinkles" like a crushed can. I'd say draw the crinkled can and put the text in it distorted to match by moving the nodes in the letters (converted to curves first obviously). An artist might be able to pull it off, but I'm just a graphics guy and anything I did looked lousy without the can outline to make it clear what it was supposed to be.

Possibly the distortion tool, never used it myself but I believe it can accomplish some thing along the lines of what you are looking for.

Not Corel, but creating a displacement map in Photoshop might get you what you want, unless you've already tried/dismissed that as an option.

You might do a google search of "displacement map in Photoshop" for others.

I decided that I was making too big a deal out of this than I needed to, since it just ends up a little one inch component of a bigger piece, of some very simple low priced art.
I went back, and just tweaked each letter by playing with nodes.
