My CCI rep dropped off my order tonight and told me about a new waterbase ink. It's D-base sweet. I guess it smells amazing. Just wanted to share.
-
For several years Jantex has had a discharge base that smells like blueberries.
-
Yeah the Discharge Sweet from discharge worked well. I have been trying for the past few days to get on their online store and it doesnt work. Can someone try this link?

We use jantex and every so often we get a drum of the 'good' stuff.
Union has had bubblegum for years, since the early 90's when I first used it.
Simple fact.. discharge smells, always has and expect it to as long as ZFS is the chemical agent.
-
A lot of chemical companies use scents to mask unpleasant odors. The bubble gum one is common in the screen printing chemistry
-
CCI puts bubblegum scent in 'The Pink Stuff' dehaze
-
Well at least it smells good while it kills us.......lol
-
pink plasti from onestroke smells like cough syrup to me.

I want a no-stink additive that I can mix into our fuming bucket o' sludge (all the discarded dc inks) and run it as a regular, charcoal or brown colored, wb. As it is, you can stink the whole shop up just by leaving the lid of that 5er cracked and it's sitting right next to the outtake of our vent system.
I like my chemicals to smell bad. Keeps you aware. Imagine if natural gas smelled like bubble gum?
-
Hey Zoo.. get another empty 5er and pour off 1/2 that waste.
Then 1/2 a bag of cement in each..
Mix well then drop in the dumpster in a couple days.
Bubblegum smelling gas.. yumm!

Thanks John, I'll give that a try. Brandon said he wasn't successful with the concrete but I'll give it a shot.
I really think the stuff could be recycled into ink again but the smell is gad awful strong so I would not want to print with it.
-
Hey hey! Actually I have not been successful with everything else, including the stuff they advertise to put into paint to "harden" up. But I am making a run to Home Depot this week sometime so I will be doing the concrete thing for sure. Takes too much time to drive to the chemical waste facility with the 15 gallons of free waste we are allowed each month. I am very, very excited for this to work!

oh, and I do know of a place that uses their old discharge ink as standard water base (dark inks on lights) but I believe they mix it into the new batch and their runs are very long so I assume the smell is minimal.
