I am really debating what color to paint the bottom of the new desk in the reception area...Here are before and afters(mind you the after isn't in the correct place yet. I am also clear coating the top, no stain on that.
The walls are about a 5527c, with maybe a touch more to the blue side. I don't think I want the bottom of the desk white.
And yes, the same desk is still in there, I essentially made a "cover" for it.

Nice!! Pink brings out your eyes :P
-
and my fist will bring out the purple around yours. ;)

I'm a marketing guy so I would say one of the colors in your company logo. Branding is what your customers see. Having colors they are used to seeing when dealing with you make them feel like they are in the right place. Nice job on the desk cover. Reception desks are expensive.
-
I am thinking one of the grays from our logo. I will be putting the logo on the wall behind the desk, I am working out the details of that after the desk is done.
I really wanted to give that desk more of a private feel to it. It needed some updating.

Look much more professional. I love the pallet wood wall. I still want to do that in my conference room I just don't have enough old pallets here.
-
I asked my customers for their pallets, all of them were fine with it. I get several compliments a week on that, and a few picture takers as well.
-
I would say it doesn't matter as most people who walk in there will only see your receptionist.
-
I'd say a dark, warm grey that compliments the wood tones on the wall, desk and floor. I don't know what the greys in your logo look like though.
-
We're gonna need to see a picture of the aforementioned receptionist to really be able to properly help you choose a color....
-
Paint it black, then put your logo full-color over that.
-
Fluorescent Green, with some daisies... or dark brown. Usually this is easy for guys (my wife says)...

Diamond plate, duhhhhh....

I had a big vinyl sticker cut with our logo on our front desk, little azz kids have pulled some of the vinyl off while there sorry azz mama's just watch, the ones we can't see, I hate to see a customer come in with little kids.

ask and you shall receive.
Also, I might go warm gray, I think that would look great. I am putting the logo on the wall behind the desk. I have a really great idea for that.
-
Lol, thanks! I'd say keep the walls neutral to let the barn board wall garner the attention. Warm gray would work.
We're actually in the middle of doing the exact same renovations. Right now we're refinishing the front desk and putting a feature wall behind it. I'll get a few photo's this weekend and post up in the shop pictures thread.

ok...having seen this pic...you could have a naked midget holding a jar of pickles riding a unicorn doing a back flip....... and I don't think ANYONE would notice your damn counter.......
good for you B....

You should decide what the function of the desk is supposed to be beyond the obvious......
I don't know if drawing attention to your furniture is a good idea when you are trying to hold customers focus and limit non profitable chat time about stuff you can't sell like the story about the desk.
You want the desk to draw them in but not distract them away from your mission, first rule in selling is always be closing.
I would go for comfortable, neat, and functional but do not make the desk the center of attention.
matching / supporting neutral colors , two colors that complement each other for the top and the base.
On the other hand if you will have a receptionist who has the time and task to engage and hold customers then decorate it such that you can tell a story behind it and up your customer face time.
think of it the same way if you were to make your clip art books and apparel catalogs available in a user friendly environment they could be held there forever while they brouse and shop...aka the nice new cars on the show room floor, the furniture at the furniture store, the tools in the tool department at home centers.
We discovered this when we named our embroidery business.....the name is Manhattan Moose Embroidery, there is no logo associated never had one but I have been asked 10000000000 times how the heck did you come up with that name and 10000000000 times told the story.
I have spent a lot of time talking about that name :) :( ? What do you want your desk to do for you?

My goal is to have a well put together showroom and office. In my opinion, it makes us look better and people are more willing to spend money with a company that looks more professional. I've got an auto shop down the road where you can't walk in his office because of so much stuff, I feel nervous about leaving my car there, but he's the only close MG mechanic I trust.

Wow your wife sure said alot of nice things about you. My wife would have started the article out: My lazy husband finally got around to... all he ever does is print shirts or talk about printing shirts...
-
haha, i think she realizes how lucky she is to have a husband that isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, now she will also find the curse of that too...a husband that is too busy fixing things to have a life.
I enjoy this type stuff though. I really want to lay tile again soon. It's been a few years.
