Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, please move if nessacary.
What's everyone's take on the Gildan commercial during the super bowl? With a average 30 sec. ad running a avg. of 4 mil I thought it was a bit weird. Seems like over the last few years they are making more of a move targeting the end user.
Anyone have any thoughts on this or am I alone on this one ???
-
i thought it was funny, but not worth the money. it's also an overplayed cliche. They are putting their shirts and socks into retail stores, so that is why they are advertising like that...also, it does help us sell their stuff when people come in and ask about their brand.
-
WalMart sells Gildan so it makes sense to promote it but the 6 or so people watching the game with me and my wife had no idea what Gildan was.

We contract print for them. Working on a large continuous program. However they are as disorganized as all get out. Makes Boxercraft look like they have their act together.

Tony- have you heard anything about or know anything about the development of Gildan and the New Buffalo Shirt Co. Honduras location?
-
No but if anyone else does pls enlighten.
-
Whether or not it is happening I don't know. But I heard from 2 people at ISS Long Beach that New Buffalo was either in talks or in negotiations with Gildan to sell them their Honduras location... I don't nearly have the resources to confirm or dis confirm this but maybe somebody here does.

Perhaps they are trying to start a new fashion movement using oil stains.
-
I do know our buyer is down there a lot. Funny thing is that Honduras is in financial turmoil. Govt workers and educators haven't got paid in six months. They have no money

Not in th eway you imagine. They are going to do large corporate work like Disney, Nike, etc. I am already seeing the normal work they did like concerts and rock groups being dropped to make room for their main focus. I don't think this will impact the normal printers business.

Who you calling normal?
(Some may even feel the term "normal screen printer" is a little bit like a mentally sound psychiatric patient)

Not the guy for that. I just know some of our customers are purchasing additional equipment due to seeing the influx of work already.

I do talk to them and actually Jon Weiss will be here this Wednesday. We will discuss their future needs and I will bring up the question as to who will be sending out work and let you know.

Rich, do you visit New Buffalo often? They are about 20 minutes from me. Many of my current/past employees have past through their doors.

I typically visit there once a year and they visit here about the same. When I visit the next time(if they stay there) I will stop and visit if that's OK with you.
