Title: Windows 7 - Pinning a non-application shortcut to the taskbar
Post by: Frog on February 26, 2013, 06:45:44 PM: Can it be done? Am I just missing something obvious (to everyone else)?

In XP, I could drag any old shortcut I wished to the task bar. In 7, it seems not. The task bar is fussier, and only seems to allow programs.

when you open the program, right click on it on the task bar and pin it. pretty easy . . .

Here's a pic showing what happens when I try to pin "Frog Jobs", a folder of, you guessed it, my jobs!

I suppose that it just adds an extra step by first having me open Windows Explorer (the icon that does pin) and then clicking Frog Jobs.

Integrity, it doesn't seem to want to go in the Quick Start either.

Windows removed the quick launch in Win7.

n its place they have whats called "Jump" Basically its pinning programs to your task bar, no different than quick launch except oit only allows programs.

But this may help, once you have a program like Corel pinned to the task bar you can then add to that programs jump list. Sadly only individual files that work with that program, not folders etc.

Leave it to Windows to always try to decide for us what we need and don't.
