Title: platen rubber
Post by: ondalevel on March 07, 2013, 05:31:39 PM
Just asking how many of you use rubber on top of the print platens on the auto's.  Pros and cons??  What do you use to attach it??

All M&R equipment uses rubber top

MHM uses aluminum tops.

Both make superior prints

Good way of putting it. I have MHM's now, but always liked the "feel"
of rubber top pallets.

Adhesive is a 3M High Temp, I'm sure someone knows the number.
I've also used regular contact cement with good results. Just don't
fry a pallet.

I've redone at least 20 pallets over the years with regular old contact cement from Lowes.  I've never printed on bare aluminum so I can't really comment on whether adding rubber is worth it, but it never hurts to put it on and try, it's just a little money and time.
