We typically do, if it's a custom mix. Just wondering what you all do.
-
We do, even though its generally less expensive. Percieved value. We were doing it here when no one else would do it so we upped the margins.
-
Generally no. We let the print dictate the method. Many many prints will be much easier
with waterbase, so we just do it. We like easy.
If a client asks for it specifically on a project that we wouldn't normally use waterbase on
then yes we charge for it.
-
i'm on that page too, but usually we only charge for custom mixed pantones.
I had a client this morning get upset because we were charging him more to use waterbase ink on an 8 color oversized print.
-
Typically what I meant by a "project that we wouldn't normally use waterbase on
then yes we charge for it" is a high color count/low quantity order where a discharge UB
stock plastisol top would make more sense.
If it's easier on us, we don't charge for it. If it's harder on us, we do.
-
We do - both perceived value and some waste that doesn't really exist with plastisol. And lately a drum of discharge white (which actually has little waste in our shop) is more than plastisol drum of white.....
Sorry for the long answer to a short one - but answer is yes.
We don't charge to mix though - and have no 'stock' colors so all in all still a good value.

Really? D-White is about 60% less than Epic Quick white.
-
Who is buying their ink in drums....my last two drums of the Rutland DC white have been RIDICULOUS (for discharge at least)....maybe we are being taken advantage of?
Anyone buying the Rutland white by drums? If so - please pm me your last drum cost if you don't mind

We buy drums of jantex/IT DC and RFU base.. about 100 gallons a week... plastisol still comes in 5 gallons buckets.
As for pricing.. I've actually started to surcharge plastisol as much as .25 a print when the last gallon of white i bought was 85 bucks :o compared to that 23 dollar bucket of DC base.
