I'm gonna' be there, anybody interested in getting together for wings and a cold beverage on Thursday night after the ISS show from 5-8 ish?  Dan and the local guys can make a location/food recommendation, I would love to talk shop for a couple of hours after a long day on my feet at the show!

I'm going for sure and surprisingly enough, my wife will actually be attending with me. She probably will go one day only, but I'll be there all three if I can. I will be the south eastern TheShirtBoard representative/ambassador or some other self proclaimed important title. Maybe we can pull Pierre down from the North as well?

We may as well do several nights of dinner gathering so that we can meet up with more of you that are going on various nights. Thurs. will be the first!  I would guess that the generosity flows with the eastern winds thus Sam at palomar printing is buying again! :)

Lets get a good list of attendees down and all get together. We will see what sort of trouble we can get into in O town.

I nominate and second Dan as the "Official self proclaimed important planning dude" for the event.  Dan, put me down for Thursday night and pick & publish a location.  I suppose if we get too many people we should warn the wateringhole in the form of a reservation of some kind.  Looking forward to the networking!  Now regarding Sam......... ;)

Only 1 week until ISS Orlando, do we have any takers for a Thursday night April 11 meet-up after the show day.

I need to rely upon Dan to recommend a spot for those who may be interested, if we don't do anything "official" you can probably find me at the nearest wings & beverage place on Thurs night.  Looking forward to meeting new friends.

Looking forward to another great ISS Show in Orlando, its a great regional show where you have a lot more time to talk with vendors & peers than at some of the larger national shows.

Remember, Dan Cambell has made reservations at Houlihans on I-Drive for a TSB meet & greet Thursday night at 5:30 PM.  Hope to see you there.

Hey, guys enjoyed the trip down memory lane as Winston and I had some common industry memories, hate to admit I'm an old fart who decorated in the seventies but the calendar does not lie, I guess.  Loved hearing about mylar balloon printing on a textile press and catching up on industry gossip in general.

I'm going back tomorrow (Sat). with the wife and actually walk the show for business fora while and then hang out after the show with some peeps but locations has not been determined. I will say tho, Houlihan's for being on I-Drive next to the show was a great location. It was actually very nice and roomy. With plenty of seating. For a show, that spot at 5:30 was great. The prices were great also. I had two drinks and a salmon dinner for $25.00 So thats one of my go to places from now on.

We missed the Vastex group at the show. They are awaiting the arrival of a baby in the family so they were on stand by.

Mark Coudrey is busy with some work in Cali. and didn't come this year but will be at SGIA in Orlando coming up.

I didn't take pictures as we had a few celebrity types with us and I felt it might seem too self serving so I refrained.  :(

If anyone is around Sat after the show, connect with me via email or cel and we can get together for a dinner (same place).

The conversations at the table would hold anyones ear in this business. It was truly good fun and great conversation.

Thanks
Dan

Had a second great day at ISS Orlando, ended the show day with the ISS Roundtable Meet the Expert Program.  According to Rodney from TshirtForums it was a face-to-face industry forum where you did not have to wait for answers.  I liked to compare it to "Speed Dating" your industry questions.

We sat around 5 different tables and just talked about how to make our biz better.  I did not talk as much as listen and guided the discussion at my table, great content, great people.

See you at a future show!  Remember the industry will be back in Orlando in October for SGIA! Sorry I am going to miss Saturday night with the TSB group at Dan's meet & greet.  Have a wing for me!

It was great getting together at Houlihan's! I look forward to doing this again!
What a wealth of knowledge from Marcia, Winston, Dan and Greg, a girl can definitely learn something from them!
Thanks for putting this together, Dan, it was wonderful meeting you in person!

My pleasure. It was a good time indeed.

The show for me, was pretty good overall. I was not a big buyer although, I did peruse each location and learned about areas of the business I did not pay attention to before as an artist/separator. My wife is all about the bling now. She bought one of those Rhinestone holders/heaters for customization and we will do some basic design with that for identifiable icons in out town along with the Town name.

The show seemed really active. The last day still seemed very full up till the end. Typically, on the last day, vendors seem to start to tear down an hour before closing. This day, they were up and running, doing business clear until the last minute. People see this and take notice and keep shopping.

People were buying smaller things on the spot and taking them out the door with them. The green sRogue press was there set up and running. They seemed to have a good gathering in the auto business M&R was there on a smaller scale than normal, but still showed a good floor coverage and a ton of interest.

The show seemed good and I heard good things bout it. Over all, it was indeed better than last year as far as turn out and purchases (from what I saw) on the smaller scale items that people could carry away.

The word on the street is that we will see more of a shift in the auto business towards smaller presses.

I agree the diamondback c is a very impressive machine...
I loved the s-roque too. It is different that I am used to but that may be a good thing. Only time will tell.
I also looked at brother dtg and a lawson cts. I have to admit I am very intrigued by both. We are not ready for either yet but after seeing how far technology has come it may be sooner than I would have though.
Meeting Dan and the gang in person was great. I really enjoyed the conversations. There were so many great things to hear. I am sorry I had to cut it short. The kids were starting to loose it.
Thanks to Dan for getting that together.
Matt

Maybe so, but I guess I was more so saying, (the auto makers) are shifting towards what people are wanting these days).  Not really meaning that the Auto makers are driving that shift.  They are only filling a demand. I'm sure they would much rather build more 18 color presses. I don't think it matters that much what brand or who started the first smaller auto. It may matter to the first maker of the smaller press to say, "we started the trend" like bragging rights...I guess. They all will be going in that direction if the demand dictates.

I'm sure we will still have our shops that need the Alpha 8's  and such. Heck, those are probably more feasible to get. You can add on as you grow. Not sure of the stating cost for the basic Alpha 8 or how many stations it starts at.

I think a true 8 color press (with an additional location for a flash) is ideal.

Post by: tonypep on April 17, 2013, 06:35:03 AM
Hate to use the automobile comparison but it really does apply here. I would imagine that if I were a manufacturer of presses I would want to cover all bases. There probably is a stronger demand for smaller presses; certainly in the domestic market. Question is that is there higher p-margin for larger ones? Can't say but I would think that I would be more profitable if I were making much higher volume of smaller ones. We have some of each and exploit them to our best ability. Our GT6/8 often generates more p-margin for us than the big boys. One could easily argue differently. This applies to our business model and your results may; of course, vary.
