Title: Converting to Curve in Corel X6
Post by: rmonks on May 17, 2013, 07:01:33 AM
Sometimes after i have a design completed I will convert it to a Curve and will save it to an external hard drive because I sometimes take the design to another PC to print the film positives and this PC may not have the same fonts as the one in which the design was created. I have found that once in a blue moon when I convert a design to curves it throws these spikes off from different points in the design. Just wondering if any Corel users have run into this. It has happened in most previous versions also. I tend to convert the text to curves before i combine it with the rest of the design and it is not as big a problem.

Take the letter "A"....
At the top triangle of the inner "A", I would put an extra node so the apex is not sharp.
I hope you get what I mean.

Do the objects happen to have outlines?

Corel is crappy with nodes and paths. Sometimes, actually often Corel goes berserk when using shape tools like welding and trimming, if outlines involved it gets even worse.

Sometimes selecting all the nodes in an object and reversing the direction can help.

Me personally I just avoid trying to stress corel as much as possible and not even bother trying to simplify things.

Sometimes you can adjust your miter limit in the pen dialog box lower and will reduce the "jaggies"

Convert all outlines to objects then convert to curves. I found that works for me.
