I am getting ready to receive the new to me auto in about a week and am having trouble with the layout. Attached is what I have so far. The washout has to stay where it is but everything else is pretty open to be moved. What are your thoughts on this?
-
Or how bout this?
-
Out of the two, I like how #1 flows better.
-
How long is the infeed on your dryer?
I like 1 too, although staging seems a little close to ink.
-
Hmmm I like #1 only because all I would have to move for the auto is the manual. The dryer has 3' in 6' heat and 3' out. I thought you guys would like 2 better. #1 would allow more walking room around the shop though.

The walking room is what I saw. Before we added on sometimes it was like a choreographed dance having people move in our shop, funny our addition was completed like 6 months ago and I start feeling cramped again! Also in #1 from a customer walking in it will look more impressive, I nice view of the auto....
Where do the stairs go? Are they yours? I would suggest in both designs maybe look into a different place for the washout station, that seems super close to the press. Spray back could easily ruin shirts on the press. Would it be at all possible to put it where you have your exposure positioned?

Looks like the load/unload station of the auto are cramped in #1. With carts full of shirts and 2 guys I bet you'd regret being boxed in like that. I'd try to have the two machines operating stations and the infeed of the oven as open and central as you can. #2 is better looking for that.
Your shop will be almost as cramped as my old shop, you could be 6' away from the bathroom, but would have to go the long way around to get there because of all the product.

Wouldn't either one be a lot of turning to unload? I'm a fan of having the press just about centered off the roller at the end of the dryer and pretty close, although you may not have room to do that.
Definitely would think about 'dirty' processes vs 'clean' ones. We try to keep all the messy stuff in back, clean stuff and shirts up front. Of course, they end up fighting in the middle... ;D

what are the dimensions of the shop?

It is about 35 wide by about 45 deep.
