1994 Jav 6/8: Upgraded by Tuf in 2000 to floating heads, recently replumbed, added new quick release platens and mini flow valves to turn off un-used flip cylinders.

I am refurbishing 1992 Javelin 6/8. Hope to have it finished this month.

I have a Jav 6 color, I had Monte Bartel set it up 3 yrs ago , and I havent had to do a thing to it. It is a great press.

Opps almost forgot.... The flashback rocks.. have had mine 6+ years and never had to change heating elements and it also eliminates the no printing head. I have the 6 color and I can print 6 colors. It does have some downsides but for the money and my market area it was the perfect buy.

I've owned two 6x8 Javelins.
The one modification I considered ( and I never got around to), is to install rubber on the pallets.
The floating squeegee (on a Jav) was hard to get dialed in for haltones.... I always thought a rubber surface would accomadate more squeegee pressure.... but, I don't know that to be a fact.
Plus, flashing on a raw aluminum pallet was an issue, until you get rolling good.

I have a 95 8 color Javelin here. I bought it after a business closed and skipped out on the rent. I have cleaned 2 years of spray tack from every surface, cleaned all the major pallet arm nuts and bolts up and just mounted the heads this past week. Been so busy printing that I have not had a ton of time to mess with it yet! I did plug it into a smaller compressor and it appeared to cycle.... so that was a big relief. Now lets gets some pics posted!

More mods to my Jav today. I noticed I was still getting water. I took the upright pipe out of the lower "air chamber" and that sucker was full of water. Probably had been there from the previous owner. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the center of the air chamber and drained it. About a gallon and a half! I went back and drilled it out to 1/2" then ran a 1/4" NPT tap through it and added a petcock. Turned on the compressor and let it blow for about an hour and got a bunch more out until it was blowing clean air. I went ahead and installed my new Parker regulator and oiler at the same time. Will go back by the Parker store on Monday and get an auxiliary water trap.
Completely disassembled head one and cleaned the heck out of it. Found a broken hose clamp on the stroke cylinder that was letting it flop and not have a complete stroke. Replaced the stop block and added some "special" fresh paint.

I finally printed my first job on the Javelin. 2 1/2 hours to figure out the squeege angle for the first time, register screens (that was easy!) and print 200 single color front & back then fold them in 6's. I was loading and my wife was unloading. At times we were printing faster than we could put on the dryer. I know it may not sound like a huge deal but I see where the multi color and flashing is going to speed up big time.

Hip Hip Horray !!!!!! Glad to here you are up and going.. If ya ever need any help let me know.. .not that I know but I may have had the same problem and may be able to share some light on the subject.. It just keeps geting better tooo. ;D

I too added the air shut off valves to my print heads it seems to add a little pressure to the heads in use, especially handy when printing white. When my press was setup we pumped water out of one of the press legs i guess you would call it. It seems like they would put a drain valve so one could drain it off every once in a while.

that is a lot of water there! I had made another post about the valves and such for the air lines yesterday that you can pick them up at most auto stores which stock part for air brakes and such.

it is amazing what sort of auto parts fit into machinery. I am at the autoparts places at least once a month trying to find something I need.
