I feel like a pain in your sides. Can someone uncompress these and put them into a pdf so I can open in Corel X4?
-
Back artwork was missing font, 2013 and Hume Lake etc is supposed to be SFCollegiate.
Yer on yer own there.
Start asking for PDF's or get an old version of Illy cheap.
-
pdf's in CorelDRAW still won't have uninstalled fonts if they have not been converted to outlines
I assume that even if opened in Illy, the same problem may arise.
-
to sound like a total F**King D**k...you keep asking this over and over....buy the program already!

LOL and true. I never understood why someone would not want to buy the tools needed to do their job.
-
Here man, took me about 3 minutes; now go buy a copy brother, and Happy 4th.
-
Thanks EB and Sbrem.
I will get a copy when I have enough money so I wont have to bother anyone anymore.
-
Illustrator CS (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adobe-Illustrator-CS-For-Windows-/300927077419?pt=US_Image_Video_Audio_Software&hash=item4610a6cc2b) should open most anything fine. It'll whine about anything newer but still open it, and make you deal with
clipping masks.
I don't mind helpin' out man. It's tough when you're first starting out and you don't have a trust fund or inheritance or bank loan.
-
Hell, I'm well beyond both starting out as well as trust funds, but you all know that I ask for help sometimes as well.
We all just know when there comes a time when so many or a certain type of file come in that we have reached a tipping point, and need to dig into our pockets.
eb helps me out sometimes on these and that's one of the reasons I haven't mentioned the lack of a check for the last job I did for him. lol!
(jk, no biggie, for real)
-
We may be giving a hard time, but it's just for fun. I'll be glad to help you out with this when it comes up, I'm trying to make sure I can get into heaven...

If I don't get an invoice I don't have a clue!

Oh, and speaking of which, I think there's another coming...

If I don't get an invoice I don't have a clue!
Talk to Cynthia and/or check your email for June 4th
-
It's all her fault! Check is in the mail!

hey Frog..there are a ton of people here who will tell you I help out but at least once a week or every two weeks Gerry is here asking for the same thing....come on. this is what I was talking about on the M&R world record post. invest in your company.
just do it!
-
Gerry did invest in his company.
And then the trucking company destroyed it.
Chit happens.

Like I said, we should all know when we reach that tipping point.
Another solution that some seem too bashful or embarrassed to try is to ask the client or artist for a file tailored to our requirements.
-
so EB...are you saying he didn't invest very well since one company took down another? he should have separated the two so things like that NEVER happen. just like people who put up their homes against the business - not a smart move!
-
I'm afraid I don't follow.
Pretty sure that if the Queen of England shipped me a freaking teacup
and the freight co. broke it I'd be in the same boat?
I'm unaware of any manufacturer that ships using their own trucks and drivers?
-
Sam's head is too far in the wrong place to follow. He is thinking about Gerry's attempt to diversify into the paint business. He's not talking about the part where Gerry bought an M&R press and the freight company wrecked it.
Whoops, hey, even the best fail. Right Sam?
-
yeah...you are talking about him going into the trucking business. am I wrong? or are you talking about the trucking company ruining his press? and even if so what does that have to do with him buying a program?

If anyone thinks they are going to Heaven for helping another screenprinter I am afraid I have some inside info and it's not going to happen.. I personally am doing a lot of animal rescue work think I have a better chance

Although I strongly believe that that the decency and humanity of a society can be judged by their general attitude towards and treatment of animals, I also feel that those who feel joy in helping others with no expectation of other reward are truly blessed.
A society with both attributes will thrive.
I fear that we are on the way down like others before us throughout history.
Oh well, we all do what we can.
btw, we're picking up our new rescue boy next week. Seven months without a dog is enough.
Pictures to follow in an appropriate thread.

Dlac, Thank you so much for your ministry. Try having a sense of humor. First, I'm nice to everyone, and help everyone I can, not that I have to verify it to you. Secondly, did you miss when Jesus told us not to make a show of our religion? Stop bragging, just do the work and go on your way without expecting accolades. Now that I have that out of my system, have a great 4th, and God bless.

dude 50 bucks a month...if you cannot afford that well then....

Yeah $50 bucks a month makes a difference. Over the past few months my overhead increased over 100% by moving into this building that was meant to house 2 businesses, got ripped off for 10k, bought a press that the trucking co destroyed so im out over 8k, took my brother off the streets and supporting him, got kicked out of our condo cause the owner was selling it so had to move into a new house on short notice and pay a little more per month. Lets see what else.... That's all ill share at the moment...

I can
t speak for Gerry, but though I also need Illy help on occasion, I very much doubt that it would return my investment of $600 in a year. (of course, I tend to do smaller runs than many here)
I often also find myself walking aspiring digital Da Vinci's through the process of giving me usable files, by explaining the "Convert Text to Outlines" and the compression default (not so much with CorelDRAW X6 any more)
What I'll never seem to lick is the way that nothing ever seems grouped as real objects, but rather sometimes hundreds of tiny slivers!

Gerry never lay out your problems in an open forum like this, there will be some that will bash every decision you made and liberally tell you what you did wrong. Its pointless and sad, many of us have problems in life sometimes bad c=decisions sometimes bad luck, no need to give the sharks bait to belittle you.
-
Mike
not trying to belittle...trying to show him he is losing more than 50 bucks a month by posting it here, waiting for a response, getting it, doing it ect. if he had the program he would have been done in less time than it would have taken him to write this post and he could be on to something else that is MAKING HIM MONEY! that is the key. making money
-
I Don't buy that Sam, $50 a month adds up I hardly believe his ROI would cover the $600 a year.
Besides the point the man has had some hardships lately and I hate seeing someone kick someone when they are down, I use the same principal as the way I teach my children things. For instance when i potty trained my daughter I never ever once got mad when she had an accident or did not put effort in to trying, I only positively reinforced her when she tried or did well. The same I apply in life in Gerry's case he is trying and has tried with significant investments he should be praised for taking them risks not criticized. Hitting him when he is down will only make him feel worse about making a future investment in his life.
-
You are right Mike, I shouldn't have put it out there. I guess my frustrations this year are starting to get to me.

What model are you guys going with? Another Shepard?
-
I had meant this to go in a doggie thread, but what the hell.
He's a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Charlie
First pics were pretty dark, though lightening the pic makes him show better, it does wash out his red color a bit.
Oh, actually, not too badly

Hay Andy, my Mom and her husband recently got out of showing and breeding Ridgebacks. They live in Napa. If you want I could pass along his contact info if you want more info on them.
Here is their website. www.winedogs.net (http://www.winedogs.net)

It comes around.
Yeah Gerry, I remember your folks from a post you made some time back. Thought about you and them as soon as my wife mentioned her new love.
Glad that the thread came back around to you.
I'm sure that my wife Donna especially will visit the site, but all in all, we have worked with the lady running RR rescue for many years, so are quite familiar. She, in fact, is my wife's best friend.
My wife used to run German Shepherd rescue for this area, while Elizabeth did RR.
It all comes around.
About twenty or so years ago, Elizabeth, the RR lady, came to me for shirts for a line of "Doglish" shirts.
One thing lead to another, and she put my wife in touch with a local breeder where Donna got our first shepherd.
She joined the owner's club, and got involved with rescue, soon to head it.
She has since moved away from that much involvement, (partly due to growth and politics), but the relationship with Elizabeth and RRR has lasted. Even picked up a girl in SoCal on our way back from the Long Beach show, then fostered and helped place her. I think that's where the ownership bug bit again.
As I said, it all seems to come around.
-
Good to hear Andy. I am sure my step father knows some of the same people as he was heavily involved in the Bay Area, breeding and also boarding other Ridgebacks. Those are beautiful dogs. ;)
