how would you bill this.
I have been doing art for a long time and am quick at it, I do work for a professional hockey team mainly just the players for there training camps. Usually there art is just type they provide or the team logo.
This year i was asked to do up some designs, well I banged out a few designs in an hour to see what they might like. They love one without changes and said go for it . Its only a couple hundred pieces supplied by UA . This is a Billion dollar plus team and I usually charge $40 an hour for art BUT I know if it was sent to an Ad agency it would have cost at least 10 times more. I know this because my wife works for an d agency and I can't believe what they charge for creative.
Do they get the local beer league price or ? , I kind of get the impression I way undercharge due to the amount of freebies I get fro the UA rep.

Simple answer is charge them what you think your talent and time is worth, no one knows that but you. If you want what I,ve been charged in the past 50, 75, 100, 200 depends on the artist.

If it were me, I'd only charge them for your 1 hour or no charge. It doesn't seem to make sense to charge someone more just because they're worth more or because they would pay more somewhere else. Even with bigger clients, these types of perks to them builds loyalty. That few hundred pieces you looked out for them on could yield a few thousand next time.

Yea this is what I have done in the past , just seems at times that I have undervalued work.

$40 is pretty cheap. We charge $60, and we're pretty cheap...

What King said is true sometimes , but you have to also look at it this way, that's why big companies keep there money by getting us small fries lusting after there biz and doing things for nothing darn near, and if you ever get hooked in they expect for you to stay that way. I've done that before and really could have kicked my own butt for it...
