I am sure it can be done, but even with our experience in printing 4CP I would not dare do it. Last order of umbrellas we just ordered the printed CAD cut transfers and pressed them on. Much safer!
Make sure you get the bleed blocking transfers!

You need to be careful with umbrella.....Sometimes the store bought ones will have treatments on the fabric that creates havoc with printing and/or transfers.....Plus as far as overall cost the sum of the parts can often be more than just buying finished products from an ASI type supplier....

Michel,
wet on wet on non absorbing fabric is probably impossable. I haven't seen it, we always use Transfers.

I used to work at a place that did golf umbrellas, but, darned if I ever remember a design with more than one color.
We then used a two part ink and had umbrellas everywhere to dry.
They can really be considered a specialization.

we used to print a ton of them.  usually on a friday when we could let them sit over the weekend to air dry.  Don't miss that...although the ones with the hooks on the handles were great because you could hang them from the ceiling.

We've printed them also but one color, kind of a pain finding places to dry them..I would do the transfers as well...make sure you remove some of the water proofing to help the transfer stay on then respray.

I also never did more than 1 color but ten years later I'm still reaping
the bad luck from opening hundreds of them indoors.
