Hey my flash unit's cooling fans are acting real crazy, I have the Anatol Rapid Wave and it has two cooling fans on top and one will stop running causing the other to hum like crazy, I can tap on it and it starts back and then the other might stop working doing the same thing all over again. I thought by cleaning all the dust out it would solve the problem no dice, anyone else flash cooling fans done this and do you all have a fix or is it time to replace those fans?

The fan on my old mercury dryer did the same thing... ended up replacing the fan with a new one I found online and all the problems went away.

Assuming these are the "Pancake" type fans, they do wear, and that increased friction causes what you describe. Cheaper ones have bushings and the better have ball bearings.

Well I'll check on graingers website and see what they have, Yeah Frog they are the pancake fans...

if your fan blades are plastic, make sure that they arent melted or distorted.

Since they are brushless fans then the only point of friction and wear is the armature where it rests on the bushing/bearings. If you can get to them a drop of light weight oil often buys you a few more months use out of them. It's always best to order a replacement even if you get it running again, as chances are it will eventually fail.
