And they are gonna drop the first 14 color one in my shop! I can't thank 244 enough for all the things he has done for me personally.
And to the industry as a whole. This is why I have the M&R tattoo right on my shoulder! I will always bleed blue. I believe the best way to thank someone is to do it publically and that's exactly what Mr. Hoffman deserves. :) Some pics of this badass beast will hit here in a few months, stay tuned!
-
Well that's not right, you gotta tell us what it is!!! LOL
Spill the beans, or else! lol
-
Well, it doesn't even have a name yet. Gonna be a Challanger III & EXG hybrid. Right now we are just calling it Totally Awesome!
-
Oh man can't wait to see this badboy! Rich really does care, and it's awesome working with him. Congratulations brother!
-
Pallets move up or heads move down?
-
heads move down!
-
Cool. Be interested to see how it stacks up to the rpm/must., as that press seems to be in the bracket your new press is going to be in. Be interested to know what features of the ch iii it has and doesn't have that differentiates it - but the heads going down is cool. I'm told it makes you feel like you're loading slower than you really are. Congrats.
-
I wanna see I wanna see!
We are going to be in the market for a second press in the next year/ two years and we're going to be looking hard at a 12/14 setup... Gotta imagine this is going to be a sweet machine if its a hybrid of the two
-
I've thought for a few years now that they will "reintroduce" the Gauntlet. I just feel like the III is too much for most to afford and the sportsman fills that niche fine but could use a few more "fun buttons" therefore the need for the Gauntlet to make it's comeback. My favorite M&R press besides the III has always been the Gauntlet. I always look for used G2's out there but they don't come along very often. They either didn't sell many of them (doubt it) or shops won't part with them because they don't want/need to.
Oh, congrats you lucky turd :)
-
Congrats! Sounds cool. Heads moving is the way to go. Heads moving down does make it feel like you are printing slower but usually you are actually printing a bit faster!
I am interested in details, and pics!
-
Congrats! Keep us updated!
-
Sweet...It really is amazing how M&R keeps innovating and keeping the industry moving!
and that is why we also have a complete blue shop....
keep us updated!

Our two Gauntlets (2003 and 2008) are running fine - we dont need to part with them.
i calculated the print count for august - either of our two gauntlets produced as much as two of the "other brand" presses combined. part is attributed to operator speed/skill, setup count and other variables.
but nevertheless - one press produced twice as many prints as two other presses... i think the Gauntlets are a wonderful press.
-
Are the heads going to lift like a MHM and S.Roque, or like a Challenger III?
-
Gauntlet didn't go away, it just got a new name. Sportsman EXG, same press.
-
Our GTS 6/8 is my fav press. Elegantly simple, all air, huge $$$maker.
-
dirkdiggler, Do i dare ask. How much did she run you? How many flashs and type did you get? Great press from sound of it. I run a Gauntlet 2 8/10 '97 model. Good press.
Just wondering the new prices for new presses.
Thanks,
Shane
-
Gauntlet didn't go away, it just got a new name. Sportsman EXG, same press.
But it's not called a Gauntlet. I knew the EXG was "supposed" to be a Gauntlet, but it's not really a Gauntlet until they call it one :).

im guessing the names "Sportlet" and "Gauntsman" would have just confused everyone.

That is correct. The G in the name stands for Gauntlet.

Ch III
-
Details? I probably will be doing a larger press next year. Need more colors!
-
So it's the first one being installed...so it's not a sportsman EXG, or a sportsman EX, or a CH IIID, they wouldn't make a 14 color DB, what could it be? I might hire someone to come punch you in the sack if we have to wait a few months to know what it is because that's just mean and cruel to announce it this early and expect us to not get unruly.
-
Yeah I'm with Alan... I WANNA KNOW!!
-
It really doesn't have a name yet, We are calling it the HVP Prototype! My companies initials! Rich is here, he knows more about it than I do.
-
I can't wait to see, wonder if it will have the ball screen indexer from the gauntlet/exg, or if it's the direct belt drive indexer. Either one, I think, is super awesome, just that the direct drive can spin unlimited if wanted right. Nice to see another puppy added to the litter.
-
belt drive like the challenger 3

Thats kinda what I was thinking. So then are the main advantages the drive system and the screen lift?

Let me know, maybe ill slide down for the install.

Will this be showing at ISS Long Beach?
Description sounds exactly like what I'm looking for...
-
Doubt it, but it will be showing in my shop before the end of the year ;D
I got the beta diamondback s, in august of 2011 and I think it made its debut at ISS Long Beach in Jan. 2012. Don't know how long it would be before this one makes its debut, but from those numbers its looks like 5 months later. Rich is the only one who can answer this.

Here is a teaser sent to me today from 244 of this badboy being put together.

Exciting. I'm in Atlanta and would love to come see this thing when it is up and running if the invite is open.

Why Not?
-
will this be like a C3d?
-
dirk, maybe we should all have a get together at your shop. King and anybody else can carpool up with me. That way we are all there at one time, so less hassle of a million tours.
just an idea.

Install date yet?

will this be like a C3d?
Looking at the pics it doesn't have digital print head functions so not like a C3D in that sense, but the choppers look long so perhaps the screens go up and down instead of the carousel. You can see what looks to be the belt drive assembly. The main control panel is different than anything else out there and looks to be a touchscreen of sorts but it's not as big as the C3 touchscreen. I think I see an indexing knob on each print head, and that's about all I can make out.
MORE PICS!!!

that's a video homie!, click on it.
-
screens go up and down. No lift cylinders. No belt drive, its a Rosette Cam Design. I was told by 244 that the cam design beat the belt system in the testing they did. Definitely no pallets up and down though.
-
Looks like a couple of those screen clean/reclaim inline whatchamacallits in the background
-
Is this going to be a $5 or $6 figure press?

i 'googled' " Rosette Cam Design" and couldnt find an explanation - could you explain or point me to information about how it works?
thanks

My computer won't play the video, it comes up as a quicktime video but won't play. Damnit.

Pretty sure its a 6 figure press.

Dang, 244 must have given you the super hookup if you don't even know what it costs!!! LOL
Looks to me like a mini version of our ch3 press. Should be an awesome machine!

So why does the tag on the photo say "ch3d"?

Like your space! You must be SUPER excited! Are they putting it all together this week?
Congrats man!

As we speak, should be running tomorrow afternoon. It morphed into a ch3d.

Luuuuuuuuuuuuucky!
Out of curiosity was the morphing option available in single phase or just 3 phase? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
It can be built either way
-
It can be built either way
244, You really need to prominently display on your web page the single phase option on all of your presses that it is available for. It very much would have influenced my purchase of my machine, so I can only guess at how many people shopping for new presses who don't have ready access to 3-phase, move on to other brands when they see only 3-phase options for many of your presses online.
My quote for getting 3-phase into my shop was >$30,000.00, that's how big of deal a single phase option was to me, I didn't think M&R made single phase machines in a big (Challenger II) 12/14.
-
I feel its time for an explanation, this thread has went on for a LONG TIME and I have received tons of pm's with questions. The Gauntlet III that I was getting needs another month or so before its ready, 244 being a man of his word guaranteed my install by the end of the year, and guess what? I will be printing on it tomorrow! He gave me a CH3D in its place...how lucky can one man be? As for the G3, I guess that's up to Mr. Hoffman on where it lands. I want to again thank M&R and Rich Hoffman personally again, everytime I think WOW, he couldn't possibly do anything like that for me again, guess what? He does it again! I have had the pleasure of purchasing 8 presses and 5 dryers, 4 exposures units, and tons of other smaller items from M&R over my 16 years in this business and it has always been on another level. I know there are other companies out there and I have spoken to ALL of them at some point, but I have to admit I got the blue tattoo right on my shoulder for anyone to see. Thanks Rich, you are a badass!

Thank you for the input! We can make any voltage and phase but the list is too long. We put a note for special voltages please call factory for that purpose. Maybe we should make that more prominent.

I would put it in with the specs page, that's what I looked at from all the manufacturers. To be fair I was shopping used machines, I would have called and asked if I was shopping new, but from looking at the specs of the M&R Challenger II's I figured all that was out there was 3-phase.
It's great to be able to put a bug in the ear of someone in power here!
...looking forward to my first Blue, just waiting for a good deal on a used 36-48" x 16-18' Heatwave/Sprint.... gotta be single phase, or convertible by someone knowledgeable. Just missed out on one out of Vancouver.
-
My art is going to make this press look good....or is it the other way around? ;)
-
Did I mention we got one of these too!
Qwik-Klamp - M&R Screen Printing Equipment - Squeegee Clamping System (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzyG7ovltUY#ws)
-
Awesome man!!! Totally going to love that CH3D, lots of days I kick myself that on our ch3 we didn't get the D option. Just wasn't in the cards at the time but that press will rock your world. Indexing system alone will increase your production a ton. As for the qwik-klamp we also went to this and it has been one the best decisions I've made. I'm very picky when it comes to our squeegees and the qwik klamp has given us amazing results. I honestly think it's one of the best new screen printing products in the last several years, that's how much we dig ours. Let us know how the ch3d is doing for you, a video cranking out the goods would be awesome too! ;D
-
I sure will as the year gets rolling, lots in front of me at the moment.
-
We got a Qwik-Klamp, too. Love it. Sucker weighs a ton though.
Waiting to hear and see updates on the install!!!
-
Gauntlet III or Challenger IIID....such a tough decision :). I assume there is a price difference between the G3 and the CH3D? At least I hope so, or my dream of putting a CH3 or G3 in the shop will take a huge hit. I'm interested in seeing this new Gauntlet, it may be a perfect fit to take us to the next level but the CH3 might be a better option. I know a little about the CH3 which makes it one of my top choices to add to the shop but if the new Gauntlet is as good as I think it could be, it might be perfect.
-
the Gauntlet 3 will be awesome, I know that for sure. I have been in touch with Rich about it and its capabilities for a long time. I would have been beyond happy with it, just worked out in my favor to get the upgrade. G3 from what I am told will be significantly lower in price compared to the Ch3D. Both awesome, just more bells and whistles on the Ch3D.
-
I wish I knew more about the upcoming GT3 but I'd be lying if I said I did but I have plenty of assumptions. Before getting our ch3 press we had a GT2 in the shop and that press was an absolute badass. I think the gt2 was/is one of the absolute best "production" presses ever produced. It doesn't have all the high end features like a ch3 or ch3d but as far as getting production numbers the press is amazingly solid. I envision this new gt3 being the same production beast that the gt2 was but having a drop screen indexing system which will make that much better for production. Ever since I went to ch3 indexing system I have been on edge to replace our diamondback with a similar system and I can see a press like the gt3 being the perfect fit for many shops out there. Knowing a regular sportsman exg can run 70+ doz/hr I would bet the gt3 will run all day at 90+ doz/hr with the press operators working less hard then they would on a non drop screen press. For all smaller to mid size shops, and the large shop wanting some big production numbers I see this gt3 being the best option. The ch3 style presses are built extremely beefy to handle the huge cut piece goods, all over prints, etc so having a press that is a smaller version with similar features is a home run by m&r in my book. Knowing what I know about many guys on this forum I think the gt3 when released will be the best option for many of us. I really cannot wait to see one in person because if it's the smaller version of what we already have it's going to be amazingly awesome. It would be the perfect fit in your shop Alan!

Hey guys my apologies here if this was covered and I just missed it, but wasn't there talk about a new indexing system? I know Diggler didn't end up getting the GT3, but I was just wondering if anything came of the new indexing system?
-
does anyone know what the print stroke would be on this?

I'm don't remember reading anything about a NEW indexing system but rather the GT3 having the CH3's indexer (or similar).

Dirk, where is the dryer exhaust venting? I didn't have exhaust out the roof of a small dryer ended up give massive headaches after awhile, amde me sick to my stomach after a while. Nice press. Would love to get a newer one.

How bout some video of this thing. There really isn't any decent video of this press in a shop or otherwise. I'd love to see an in depth video of all the cool features like some of the videos that were done in the "Auto Wars" threads we did a year or so ago.
-
Congrats

What you have there is a genuine monster!
Nice, enjoy!!

I agree, that dryer used to be in a different position, we just haven't recut the hole in the ceiling to hook up the exhaust yet, should be done next week.
-
That there is a beautiful sight. Congrats man.
-
awesome!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah budddddyyyyyy!!! That CH3D has to be the best production press out there IMO. Not wanting to open a can of what's the best press but knowing what the ch3 does for us I can only imagine how a digital version is. You need to post up a video of that thing kicking out the jams! Awesome though!!!!
-
There is at least one video on M&R's site (Youtube). Not in depth at all, but shows the machine in operation. I wish I could tell you all the good things about it, but I don't have time and there probably isn't space here. I can't really think of many other features I'd like to see in a press. I wish I could replace my other two autos with IIIDs.

My 4 yr. old is the first operator of this beast!

We are about to pull the trigger on a C3, i wish we could grab the 3d. It just looks so cool.

The tech and the engineer are at the shop today and tomorrow and have already done some cool upgrades to the programming at my request. I got another one I put in the engineers head today that he says can happen. This is AWESOME!!!

They are amazing aren't they?
