I did not even check the thread as I assumed that Action Engineering would be the first answer. After all, they are supporting the forum with advertising and they do make quality product.
Do they not make a Jacket Hold Down for the manual presses?
pierre

Yes Pierre they make jacket hold downs for most makes of manuals.
-
Action wants $600 for one! Does it print for you too? ;D

Here's another company that I used to deal with who has been making specialized accessories for a long time.
They may not be a lot cheaper though.

I have always thought with something like lined jackets, and their special holder it's a matter of ROI.
If you hardly ever see 'em, don't bother.
If every now and then, whip something up.
If you do enough to pay for the classy unit in a job or two(or three), go for it!

Wow, just had a project come up that requires a hold down for a small heart print area, probably a 4x4 or 5x5 and I can't believe how expensive these units are. Action's and Livingston's is over 400 bills, yikes. Not really justifiable for the amount we're going to use it, might have to get all Mooseman in here. Does anyone know if M&R makes a small one? there's are priced much more reasonably it looks like.

We have a few used ones.
Livingston 7.5x7.5
Livingston 5 inch
Workhorse style 16x16
Call for pricing or check out www.spotcolorsupply.com (http://www.spotcolorsupply.com)

Awesome. Attempting to move this print over to a more easily printable areas with the client but, if that's no go, I'll grab one off ya.
-
small ones can be home built a little easier with a disc of plywood or mdf and an embroidery hoop, a la Scobey Peterman

Yeah back in the day we had a 4 sided aluminum angle iron thingy
held together with springs... Very inexpensive, worked like a charm, but would go past table if
pushed too hard.
Once printed pile of nylon jackets w/ a 3 color print and got talking while in process...
laid a "wet" one in the pile and thought- oh noooo- yes smeared all over the back of the other.
Xylene fix...only back in the day. ::)
