Title: Not to beat to death but.....
Post by: tonypep on November 07, 2013, 10:26:39 AM
M&R did us a solid favor. Not appropiate to discuss details but they did something they didn't have to. Doubtful that most other mfgrs would have done so.
thx tp

Similar story here.  They'd kill me if I gave details as well because if they had to do that for everyone then they'd go broke.  They do a great job of doing things whenever they can that others wouldn't/couldn't do.  It's tough to reach out to everyone with huge favors and I know they would love to but they have a business to run.

I can't say enough about them.  I guess I am just a fan boy.  But I assure you no manufacture would do what they do for MANY.

Same here. I will keep them private but it has been more than one occasion that they have stepped up. Not just Rich but several other employees of M&R have gone above and beyond. That is why this shop is blue. Service and support is what sells.

so why are you still on that "team"?  I have heard more stories of Hoffman hooking up people that do not have his press yet they still buy the other stuff.

makes me wonder how people can live with themselves.

ie.  I know he hooked someone up and they went to get ancillary stuff for their press and they bought from somewhere else...guess I just don't get it.

It's "interesting" to say the least Sam.

M&R is a customer service company that happens to sell equipment also. I heard that from a very big wheel.

Well Sam you should remember when I was press shopping, and M&R was the first people I called and Rich himself told me they had nothing that would fit my needs and Anatol did back then.

Yup, M&R and Rich and Rich and Monty are amazing. Much help in the past and going forward as well for me. My doors to the new place don't open until the beginning of December and they have already gone far and above expectations. I could not imagine going with anybody but M&R.

Same here, more than once!  I know I shouldn't go public with it, but they are amazing.  Rich told me personally that its not about the money anymore, he wants to help guys like me.  I'm just a regular dude, and he has bent over backwards for me several times.  Can't thank them enough.

Past the service, which blows all others out of the water, I couldn't believe how well they hooked us up with our flash, there was a freaking additional box of bulbs in there.  Seriously, I don't even know what that costs but it ain't cheap.

If/when we buy new I always go straight to M&R first and only go elsewhere when there are features not available from M&R that we need.

What amazes me is the fact that other manufacturers have set the bar so dismally low that M&R could do just one sixteenth of what they do and still be on top but they go way above and beyond.

Ok, enough dick riding for now.

we're soon to be ready for a new exposure unit and dryer... M&R is on the top of the list.. especially since we're less than an hour of driving distance to both the niles and glen ellyn locations..

Can't wait to set up our appt to see the gear and sign some paperwork.

.. since we're a no-financing biz, we're waiting until we have cash in hand to not waste anybody's time.

Everyone knows how I feel about our auto and all that but when it comes time for more equipment, most notably CTS, perhaps another auto to replace ours if we need more color capability or productivity M&R will get the nod.  There were days in the past where if we had a piece of equipment go down, dryer or auto, we could lose a day, even two and when we got back up and running we weren't in bad shape, but today if that happened it would be ugly.  On slow weeks we're doing twice as much as we were doing when we were busy in 06-09' and I KNOW with 100% certainty if we had an M&R and it went down we'd be back up and running in no time.  Right now I know if our press went down I'd be alright and I'd be running quickly, but what about 2 years from now?  3-4 years?  Stranger things have happened but I have little doubt that M&R is going to be there 5 & 10 years from now.

EDIT:  Someone brought this to my attention that it sounds like I believe M&R will be gone in 5-10 years but I meant it to read that I believe they will be around many years from now.  My bad.

Two years ago there was nothing blue in our shop, but slowly things have started changing.  I will always give all the autos their due like acknowledging that MHM is a bad freaking machine and Sroque and RPM offer a ton of press for the money.  But due to the way our business model is with my belief of using and relying on one auto for as long as possible, I need to know 100% that someone's got our back should something happen.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys! We try to treat others as we would like to be treated. Nothing more, nothing less. Now stop this or people will start to talk about how much we pay for these comments and I can't afford any more! Seriously thank you for the recognition.

I too am a big fan of my blue shop...
But, I have not had a call or visit from anyone at M&R since the tech installed my equipment over 10 years ago, and when ordering parts that fail I don't see anything over and above exactly what I order.  ie: no expedited shipping for a reduced rate...no discounted cost on the parts...etc...
With that said, I do not expect those things...but this was about a company going the extra mile.

Not saying they aren't a great company....just no experiences to bring that point home for me and my shop.

Glad they have really stepped up for people.

I'm also very proud to say that if you visit M&R's site and look at the video of the CIIID, you get a little peek at my press, my shop, and a few of my (happy) guys. It was great to have them visit and do some video here.

So...I already stated that I am a fan of M&R...BUT...I ordered an index regulator on Nov 7th and it was out of stock.  I called today to find out where the part is and they still don't have any in stock.  >:(

No substitute parts...

Hate having a press that won't index!

So much for above and beyond....

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Since I do not know who you are or which order you are talking about I cant help. If you could e/mail me or PM me with a company name or order number I will look into and see what the issue is. The only order I can find for a regulator not in stock was for a 2002 air index Sportsman in N.H. If that is you the regulator shipped today. That part is for a discontinued machine that was built in 2002 and we only sell one every once in a while. Can't stock everything for an 11 year old press but we try.

244 I sent you a PM.

Yes, that is the press.  2002 sportsman...bought it new.

Spoke to parts and service this afternoon and the part was still out of stock.

I do not expect every part to be in stock, especially for older machines.  But I do expect a part to be available a little sooner than a couple of weeks.

tonypep, I asked the parts dept for an option other than waiting, she said nothing of the ability of acquiring it locally.
I took it upon myself to search the SMC website.  They are shipping it to me overnight.

I see that 244 edited his original reply and updated the info to say that they shipped a part today...someone there must have gone to SMC also.

Actually the part came in and was picked for shipment at 11:58 this morning  which was one hour before this post. The part was shipped in early from the vendor.

Well, the parts dept told me at about 12:30 pm today that the shipment was due in to M&R on the 15th but had not arrived yet.

Guess I will have extra on my shelf now...

Thank you Orion.  I will put that company info on my list.
