Title: Silver Shimmer?
Post by: dirkdiggler on November 09, 2013, 09:53:56 PM
Anybody tried multiple brands?  I have only used Wilflex, but I have a customer that keeps ordering it, but complains that it doesn't have enough shimmer...?  86 mesh is what I am using.  Just wondering if one brand blings more than another?  Thanks in advance for the tips.

One Stroke has some nice shimmers. Otherwise we use the one from Union, but does not have the same bilng as the One Stoke.

Maybe they would prefer a real metallic.

We use International Coatings shimmer. And Frog is right if they are looking for the bling factor a metallic is probably more what they are looking for. I noticed in the TD sheet for the shimmer that excess heat will dim shish the sparkle so that could be a factor as well.

We use Wilflex and IC silver and gold shimmer and metallic. The IC appears to have larger flakes and more of a glitter appearence with both products. The IC shimmer I will run through a 60 and metallic a 25, leaves a nice effect on the shirt. Tech Support has their own line of shimmers in different colors that produces a nice print and effect, we keep and use several of these.

We push Wilflex's Shimmers through a 110s with a double stroke... customers are happy.

The only complaint I ever got was when I used shimmer rather than the real metallic that they were expecting.

btw, then you'll get the complaints of tarnishing. You can't win.

Run some liquid silver by them and see if they like that better.  It has a lot of bling factor but is smooth and foil-like, actual metallic.

Or just start printing glitter overlays for them....

We use both Wilflex Silver Shimmer and Mirror. Mostly Shimmer. I STRONGLY suggest trying it through a 125-55. You won't double stroke.

If you can find it any Plastomeric shimmer or metallic is the bomb.  By far the best out there back in the day.  As far ahead of the curve in inks as MHM was in machines.

I knew you had my back.  However Plastomeric ink did not need no stinkin double bevel :o :o :o :o :o
