No big deal, pretty much same as the simulated process except your ubase has to be pretty much perfect white. If it's grayish, the colors will be shifted an muted. We use Dan for the seps.

I second Dan for seps we did a 4 color process on dark and his seps were great Oh and Pierre printed the seps for us in a crunch.

At Harlequin and elsewhere the going phrase was "You're only as good as your underbase". Still true today. That's why many separators insist on knowing the color of the garment. That is their "canvass"

Not necessary for most prints but, for example, in fine art reproduction, some high end printers/separators use three whites and, as mentioned in another thread, two blacks

So with 2 blacks and 3 whites (there's a joke in there somewhere) why not just do sim process?  We've got 4 jobs over the last few years that were done from another shop in 4CP and we were to replicate/improve on it for the customer and we didn't bother doing 4CP on the last 3 after dealing with the issues on the 1st one.  We changed them to sim process and moved on about our business and the prints were 10 times better.  I think I have pics of a few of those I can try to dig up.

Exactly right but still some did do it when sim process was a closely guarded secret. I did some sim pro work with Coudray where two UBs + a high white were used

two ubases, hiwhite and a black or two (depending on the garment color) are tools used for both 4CP and SP. When the remaining head count is less than what cna be done in SP, 4CP might be an option.

Did 4CP on black a few weeks back, just for the fun of it. I had not done 4CP in many years before that and don't care to, there are too many variables for us to be consistent with it. If you can pull off a design using SimPro that is the way to go.
