M&R I-image S print head replacement
« on: September 30, 2025, 12:08:46 PM »
Anyone in here that replaced their I-image S print head themself?  Looks fairly simple looking at a couple of videos online.

If so did you buy the part from M&R @ $2400 or did you get it from a different vendor at 1200-1400.  And if so would you mind sharing which vendor as there are a few to choose from but its hard to tell now a day which are fake or real.

Any help is much appreciated.

Jon

We did an I-Image head in the past.  From M&R because we have a 2-head printer and is a bit more complex.  I'm not sure how it would work with the I-Image S, I would hope you could get your own to replace it.

This won't help but with DTF printers we have bought the head from elsewhere, not our machine supplier because it was overpriced, that's an Epson I3200 though.  Ricoh are hopefully really easy to work with too, good luck.

Any of the I-Image machines (on the first or only head) you can easily replace the head yourself. Reason being, that first one locks into the exact position it needs. No calibration. No alignment. Just a couple small screws. It’s when you have a 2nd and 3rd head that needs careful alignment and a bigger challenge to remove old and replace.

As far as where to get the heads, I have no idea. People do or have bought the cheaper heads I’ve read, but know tho, as such, you get no support from M&R for that. Also if it’s a dif head during the first year warranty then it voids the warranty.

Maybe it might help to feel happier that you won’t need a tech on this and saving another 1000-1500 there. You may also consider…

A, you buy from another place at lower cost but no support.

B, you buy from another source that may down the road prove to be less quality and M&R ends up needing to fly a tech in to repair other parts costing 2-4 X what that print head cost.

Just a thought.  May never happen but then again, could.

I replace my own on a i image ste 3 head.  It does take some calibration.  I’m not sure about the I image s print head model but I get my Ricoh gen 4 print heads from digiprint.com.  I just bought 2 for $1100 and some change each.
It's not a job if you love doing it.
