IF planned right... then the fall off/inverse square law would just be canceled out by this "overlap".  IF planned right of course.

I think this was one of flipper's considerations back in the 80's when he (or properly speaking "it") was designing his/its LED unit. I'll have to go check the episodic archives.  ;-)

The technology is on the rise. I had a guy come by wanting to convert the shop to LED. I said no way too much UV. He said they give off no UV and I said I do not believe that. He gave me a LED to test. I laid out a screen with a film on it and put the bulb in a work light. Left it on there for about 25 minutes in the screen room. In that time it fully exposed a screen that had HVP on it perfectly. This bulb he gave me was only equivalent to a 40 watt standard bulb.

Now if they only came in a single light source configuration that would be the sht.
