Bad match outputting PMS 485

I'm outputting a digital transfer.
I am only using a four color Epson 1100, but my output of 485C is crazy off!

It's similarly dark and maroonish in any profile I use. Usually, the ICM profile is pretty good. It looks dark, oversaturated, even when using the relatively low ink text quality, or text and graphic quality rather than the very saturated photo setting.
It's similarly off on regular paper as the transfer paper.

Just out of curiosity, can someone else spit something out in 485 and do a quick comparison with a swatch and tell me if it's just a weird color for inkjets or just an issue for me and mine?

I'm presently dialing it back to 80%, getting much closer, and showing an example to the client.

from what I have seen, a good bright red is a problem for CMYK.

I just discovered, that the silly "C" is what's really mucking it up. This is digital, so unlike my mixing system, I can use uncoated if necessary, but...

I also just discovered that 485C at 80% is really close to 100% 485U.
and, the client just approved it.

I could use either, and I just learned something.

The problem with any CMYK method is matching a custom color. Pantones are specific colors and some are not able to be matched straight out, so your "adjustment" will be needed.  If matching a Pantone is required, you should come up with some disclaimer to indicate that not all colors can be matched accurately.

I always go one better than a disclaimer. Dealing locally, I generally have the client sign off on questionable spot mixes, and today, on this digital match. It's on them now  :)
This one made me a little nervous as it's going on a few expensive bike jerseys.
