Transfer paper - Right side

They say that transfer paper has a right and wrong side.
How can you tell which is the right side, they look and feel the same to me.

They shouldn't. One side is smoother and shinier typically. I can tell by touch usually. Some brands will put their logo or other identifying info on the non transfer side as well. I also find they tend to curl a bit toward the coated side due to humidity, so store them print side down.

The only stuff I have ever had, and I have had around for a long time is, I think, Transfert 75. It's kind of like a heavy parchment and I can't tell the difference with the sides.

Okay I just looked up the stuff online, and it actually touts this feature.

However, the instructions also say to use the side facing up when you open the ream.
Tech Support, who sells it, offers this advice:
Transfert 75 is for litho and screen cold-peel plastisol transfers. It produces high quality graphics with a minimal amount of ink. Paper is coated on both sides, but the top side is recommended for litho transfers.

Cold vs Hot peel would be good to know.  I have only ever done hot peel, and of the 3 or 4 brands I've tested, the differences between the sides are obvious.

Try with piece of adhesive tape. Should be obvious difference. If not, your paper is coated on both sides.

the couple different kinds of papers i've used have usually had a slightly darker shade on the side you print on. also sometimes there are numbers or something on the back side along one of the edges, so those are pretty obvious.

I don't know how hard it will be
to find, but I remember this actually came up and there was one. It surprised me, I'd never heard of it.

The only source I've found for clear was in Europe.

Seems like it would be a no-brainer.

PET Silicone transfer sheets.

The ones I know of are made in China.  The distributors in my area have looked at them but demand is low-ish, so, ask your distributor if they can get some.

Last thread I read Zanegun was looking into a mass group order or something like that....
