we're up...then down...then up again, then dead....then balls to the balls...then dead again......it's fun. I'm having fun...this is all fun, right?.....stupid ass industry. 
This is not remotely a screen print industry thing. I run with a lot of business owners in a car group we have. Some of these guys move billion a year. Most have businesses in the 25-150 employee range though. Every one of them say what you say above. Killing it one second dead as a door nail the next. Rinse and repeat. In general most of them have seen wilder swings than I have even. Most are level to slightly up or down currently. Some are way down though. None way up.
oh I get it, all the business owners we deal with here, same thing. Everything's great to panic mode in the same day.... I just hate this industry
...cost of entry is too low..... among other things....
