print settings from Corel X6, I need help.
« on: November 19, 2012, 11:29:55 AM »
I don't know what's going on here but it keeps spitting out cmyk seps along with my spot colors. I will select the colors I want to print, looks fine in my print preview and sure enough, it will print the empty plates. . .what am I missing, I have checked every box I can and nothing changes. I'm using accurip. if I had hair, it would be on the floor. I've wasted more film than I am willing to say. . .

shut it Sam, I don't want to hear it.

OK Homie, just for you, I will output today's job with X6 (first time) today just to see if I can help.
However, be warned that it is a simple job not going through a RIP, so it may not prove a thing if, for some reason, CorelDRAW X6's interaction with Accurip is the problem.

Okay, except for finding an invisible color that wanted to print, my simple two Pantone color seps came out okay. (The mystery orange must have been something from the customer supplied art, because when I merely selected all of the visible components, copied and pasted to a new file, all was fine.)

As soon as I click "Print separations" only the spot color plate checkboxes appear, and only they printed.

I did notice one extra step in the dialogue. Print/Color/Print Separations/Separations (checkboxes)/Print

Old topic resurfaces.

just updated to X6 from X4, moved to a better computer, one that could handle adobe too.

X6 tries to print EVERY color in the seps EVERY time, no matter what the settings? seems others had this problem too, what was the fix??

solution..go back to X4.....X6 drove me insane, I only open it to use simpleseps raster and importing newer Illy files...X4 works great.

Since back on November 19, 2012, when I tried it for the first time, and it worked, I had no answers other than a buggy interaction with Accurip.
Can you post a screen shot of your print dialogue? Let's see if something is different than in mine, (or others who don't have the problem)

In fact, I wonder what Homie and Gabe discovered. Lotta water under the bridge since this was brought up.

edit, okay, I see what Homie's solution was

well sheeeit. guess that's certainly an option.

attached is part of the print dialogue.
Accurip (I HATE THEIR TECH SUPPORT FUNCTION) has their usual - "it's not us, it's Corel" response.
printing without Accurip does it right (only prints the sep that is selected)...

All you have to do have it setup and click print, then color, then separations. Go to composite and set angle and lpi.
Good to go then

NO. The problem is that X6/AccuRIP sends ALL plates to the printer. the properly selected spot color and any and all OTHER colors that have not been selected to print but exist in the selection.

If there are two colors in the selection to print, you get two files that the printer wants to print, even if you only selected the right ONE.

It appears that X6 won't play nicely with Accurip. Since Accurip has no answers, perhaps you should see if a specialized Corel Forum may offer some solution.

Homer's solution of simply going back to X4 is the answer for now. Ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'd like to hear from anyone who is successfully running AccuRIP through X6 though - I'd have to assume this has been addressed and fixed at some point yeah?
