Multi-RIP - dye sub and film

Anyone have it?  Looking to add dye sub and also happen to need a rip upgrade so it sounds perfect and it also sounds well put together- preset ink density for different film brands on the film rip side, sawgrass color profiles on the dye sub side -but would like to hear from a user. 

Sometimes combo products like this do mediocre at two things rather than very well at either, so I'm skeptical.

Film Maker 4 was released recently and it offers both i the same package!

it has 2 calibration curves! One for your film and the other for the press. I can see that coming in handy!

The Jitter thing has me on the fence. In the end the answer will probably be in the print. I can see things going for it and against it, so until somebody tries it . . .

It's about time someone started thinking about both gain on the film and gain on press.  That sounds great.  I wonder how you would get readings off a shirt print though- maybe just grab a microscope and do some measuring and math?  Or be lazy like me and eyeball it real good.

I think algorithms like their Jitter just depend on how well they can universally apply themselves and will be something that's probably incredible for certain art and not so useful for the rest.  Sounds a little bit like the FM yellow screening option that SoftRip has which always sounded smart to me.  It would really bust up any chances of moire.

print the shirt, take the film with the known values and compare under the microscope!
Pretty simple and effective. Not 100% accurate, but pretty darn close. This is one of the things Richard brought up while here. 'no time to do it now, but hopefully soon.
