frame issues

I just got a magnetic frame and its large 16 by17 inches.  i made the design to fit the frame however my machine sez i have gone outside my sewing areas please please help me to reset the frame limits

Once again, I hope that an answer is forthcoming right here, for all to see, and to aid all who have this issue or may have this issue in the future.

Different embroidery machines (make & model) have different sizes of sewing fields.  You didn't tell us what the make & model of your machine is, so that is the first thing you need to tell us.  Also, as far as I know (and I've been known to be incorrect on more than one occasion), you cannot change the size of the sewing field.  If you design is too big for your machine, it's too big.  Even if the big hoop fits.
Grant me the ability to change the things I can, the strength to accept the things I cannot and the wisdom to recognize the difference.
