adhesive remover suggestion?
« on: March 24, 2016, 11:40:28 AM »
We are restretching some of our newman frames that have had polyken tape on them for 18+ months now and I'm having a hard time getting all the old polyken tape residue off them.

we were trying to use franmar 'icky-sticky-unstuck' which sucks in my opinion
xenon xenzu pac worked decently...

but neither seem to work as well as oven cleaner, which obviously is very toxic and not labeled for this use in the shop.

anybody have any other suggestions of what works 'best'?

We've always soaked the frames in icky sticky. Then scrub off with pad,  razor if needed and degrease.

Saati have a Press wash 4 which is designed for cleaning ink off screens but cleans spray glue really well.

We have been selling this for about 6 months with really good feedback.  Spray, let sit or brush in, wipe up the adhesive, then degrease.  Also works really great on pallets when remasking or you just want fresh pallet glue.

Don't use lacquer thinner, it will likely just make it even gooier. Methanol can work, failing that a dedicated adhesive remover.

There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey.
