How to print information on static frames?
« on: January 18, 2024, 10:36:49 AM »
Want to clean up my screen collection and not write with marker all over them.

This is what I want:

Is it a gadget? is it screen printed on? (but then it would be crazy to include the date?)

i plan QR codes on sticker (with details of the screen on google sheets) but for the base info (mesh type) it looks cool.

Any recommendation for the sticker material you used? And can you print on those?

We use a 3 number 0-9 stamp with a letter designation for S or T Mesh. Its a special ink that goes on metal and is solvent resistant. From Hitt Marking.

This is smart, i like the idea of a QR code. A lot more can be tracked that way (ie production date, reten dates etc). Would help with tracking screen pops and gathering historical data.. Interesting.

We use color paper (color designates mesh) that is laminated with the screen number on it and track the number through our system.  The laminated paper is taped to the screen, out of the way of Tri-Loc spots.

Ya we have very little low mesh around here. Spot color jobs are so rare here. Mostly 8-12 color per side all sim process.

back in the '80's, the screen dept. I ran had over 4000 wood frames with 1 - 100A, 1 - 100B, etc. all wood burned individually, LOL! No digital data base, but a great index card file.

I made a mistake once; I thought I was wrong about something; I wasn't

We used to do that, we had metal number strips that we'd tack on with brads.  The looked like a metal version of those embossed label makers from the 80s.

Everything went in a binder for future use. I do not miss that at all.

We use color coded electrical tape. It's super cheap, and easy to spot from far away.

We use different color zip ties and have a chart on the wall for easy reference.  The only draw back is that on the rollers after retensioning occasionally we have to rotate the knot on the zip tie to the inside of the frame so that there is no risk of hitting the i image print head.
It's not a job if you love doing it.

We actually just hold it up in the light and guess....LOL

For us, 110 and 156 are white screens - we put a pc of blue tape on the 156.

230 and 300 whatever - are yellow and put a pc of blue tape on the 300

Thats on the statics

We have been getting our shurlocs back in rotation again, and those are color coded anyway by the strips.

I dont keep track of anything with them. Every once in a while I just order more panels for the shurloc and it seems to just fill in the ones we had to toss because of holes.

We are using a Brother P-Touch 700 label printer. They hold up extremely well.
