Proper PDF Saving out of Illustrator
« on: April 25, 2024, 07:44:46 PM »
Can someone share with me the best settings for saving pdf mocks in Illustrator? We run into some issues recently where art doesnt show on pdfs sometimes and I cannot figure it out even if I rasterize. Is it a CC issue or is it a settings issue?

Is your artwork contained by the artboard? If it is outside of the artboard it won`t show when saved as pdf.
We save our mock-ups as .png files in Illustrator.

I know this may be a dumb answer, but when we drag and drop into illy we have to " embed" it. Otherwise when we open on a different computer it is not there..

We save our mockups as a pdf in illy and we dont have a problem.

My art guy used to do that all the time, never embed and when I bring up on my computer, no art showing.

I think it may be embedding. Will give it a check on Monday!

It depends as well on how you open the file.
We had the same issue on at least one of our MACs. If we dragged the actual file to Illustrator in the dock we had the same problems as you are experiencing. Right-clicking and then choosing "open with" solved it for us.

I'd never considered that. I think I do drag sometimes as it is easier. Will try that method as well.

I never dragged and dropped, always "Placed". Hundreds of times, maybe thousands. Definitely Embed so it's always there.
