USPS
« on: February 27, 2012, 09:08:55 AM »
I think i have found out why the USPS is in so much trouble.  I placed an order with a vendor, not knowing they would ship via the post office.  I got a shipping confirmation with a tracking number on 02/17.  I click on the link and it shows that billing was received and a delivery date of 02/21.  Thats cool, a little longer than UPS but it will work and I still can get job done before the weekend.  The 21st came and went and no delivery.  I checked the tracking and it showed that this package bounced around quite a bit before it even headed in my direction.  I have attached the actual tracking of the package.  If the USPS wants to remain competative they need to take lessons from UPS.  I know UPS is not perfect but they at least can get something to you quicker.  Next time I place an order with this supplier I will ask the to ship UPS.

To take this one example and say USPS is bad and UPS is better, is probably way off the mark......I move 200+ shipments a years and I can say with certainly that all of them screw up occasionally....Fortunately most are not as extreme as your example.....And in my mind USPS is no worse than UPS or Fedex....

Sorry, USPS is way worse than UPS and Fedex.  I find Fedex and UPS to be about the same, but every time I use USPS, something gets screwed up.

USPS does equally as well with flat goods as the other guys, but parcels, forget about it.

USPS is the only service that's screwed up on me in the last five years.  An envelope I sent two day got there a week later, one package they just straight up lost, and one they didn't deliver--just got to the post office and sat there until I tracked it and stopped by to have a chat with them....

Considering I ship and receive maybe 30 packages a year, that's a heck of a track record.

We track every outbound shipment and USPS has the poorest overall performance.  Not to mention they act like they're doing us a favor to come get our freight.

I am not saying UPS is 100% perfect, we have had some problems with them.

I figured out that my package traveled roughly 1684mi.  Whereas if it went UPS it would have traveled only 402mi and been here 4 days sooner.  Lesson learned, next time I will specify UPS.

Simular ordeal here but I'm waiting on my Square Up scanner for my iphone, I tracked it and its been sitting in my area since the 17th and awaiting processing.

Dont get me started on their customer service skills or lack there off if you should ever have to walk into the dreaded place to send something out. They quit refilling those ink pens on a chain long ago too lol.
