so who actually MAKES this ink? we are hooked on Phoenix white, hasn't let us down at all, manual or auto. we go through small amounts, about a gallon every 2 weeks, but I see no reason to switch my white. . .I just wish it was a little more matte.

Does anyone know if this is a phthalate free ink?

And is the smooth white a low bleed ink, or a cotton only ink?

I asked that a page ago.  I think the answer is, if you have to ask then the answer is no.  You'd think they'd advertise it as phthalate free.  Not a deal breaker though for most shops and I will still probably order a fiver here in the next week.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll probably give a call over there and ask. Sometimes I forgot that going straight to the source often gets you the most accurate answer.

I just called Miami Screen Supply.

They have 4 different whites (all low bleed):

superior: this is an auto ink
smooth: this is a little thinner and made to be manual friendly
super: kind of a middle ground between the two
these three inks are not phthalate free

The 4th is "pthalate free white". It performs closest to the superior, and is more of an auto ink
it costs $10 more per 5 gallons than the above three.

I will probably order a gallon to try out. Not sure if shipping from FL to MA will kill the price or not.

*disclaimer: This is what I was told. I have never used this ink.

:::::UPDATE::::

I recieved my five gallon of smooth white and I just got done testing it out.

I printed half a job with Wilflex's extreme white, cleaned the screen out and printed the rest with Miami's smooth white.

Smooth is more opaque than the extreme but a tad thicker which means a bit of a rougher surface, I had to make some basic adjustments but I got it flowing nice.
Optically it is as white as extreme is.
Flash is the same as extreme, 2 seconds once palettes are warmed up.

So I really have no negatives except it is not as smooth as hoped for but I figured out a while ago to get a smooth creamy white RFU it simply will not be the ideal opaqueness.

For the positive tho extreme white lists for $350
Smooth is $185

My cost for shipping from Miami was $38 $1 less than me shipping UPS to Miami. Seems to me they are fair on shipping cost unlike some places.

This is a win win, a much cheaper white that stands up to Wilflex white as a every day use of ink.

I will now also order fivers of some of the basic colors and save even more money.

Good to hear.  We are about 3 gallons into the 5 of superior and it's been great.  I did the same test the other day.  Started a job with our 50/50 mixture of triangle phoenix and qcm 159 then switched it to the MSS Superior and the print was slightly smoother and more opaque, and so much cheaper.

Streetfighter for cotton and for 50/50 is about $180/5 and has the benefit of that whole pthalate free thing.

Even less, $164.33  http://www.spresource.com/home/screen-printing-inks/rutland-inks/whites/sf-2-low-bleed-white (as I linked earlier in this thread for Gerry)

Not to take anything away from Miami, but yes, the Rutland is really reasonable.

Sean,

does it seem like the SF white takes a long time to flash? I have been using it this year and not so sure I really like it.. it does print flat but I do not get enough opacity
