Pierre, this is mostly for you

and the few other watch nuts in our group.

You might remember me telling you that my everyday watch is an Omega Seamaster from the '60's, but last week, my wife gave me this guy, so I now alternate. $25 and it keeps fine time.
I just wonder if it will still be ticking in 45 years.

aaaah, yes! remember now, Omega makes some nice stuff!

Who is the watch made by? Do you know anything about the movement? If I could find the time (maybe next winter) I could possibly be talked into servicing it for you. You know, the regular LOF stuff, save you a few hundred bucks . . .

we should probably start a watch thread . . .

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Mickey is Chinese junk (that's a type of ship though isn't it?)
The brand on the back is Accutime.

The Seamaster, on the other hand, is due for a cleaning, and the date advance (a second pull of the stem) has either jumped its groove or broken.

It looks like this but Stainless Steel not gold in color.

I'd venture to say that the Mickey Mouse watch will not be ticking 45 years from now, so enjoy it while it's still working :)

Yes to the watch thread, that's probably my second passion.  I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive.  It's hard having a hobby like watch collecting when you can only afford a new piece once every 2-3 years.

I'm wearing my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean today.

I am even more of a rookie with the watches then I am with screenprinting. I've taken two classes and put together and serviced only about a dozen watches. Mickey I'd dare to take apart and fix, Omega, no way! Sorry . . .

It's a monster, my wife got it for me for my birthday, I wore around the house for 2 weeks pondering the size.  It's huge but I really like it now, took some getting used to.
