I think the results, insofar as opacity is concerned, speak for themselves.  This was through a 150s mesh coated 2/2 with chromablue - one hit for an underbase - about 12-15 lbs of pressure (at least according to the digital readout at the print head).

Don't have enough superior ink to try testing flash times in comparison to the streetfighter flash time, but Superior wins with regard to opacity for sure.

Not that it matters to everyone but Rutland SF-2 is a Phthalate free ink.

I dont think that the regular white from MSS is Phthalate free.

Thanks for posting this! These are the two inks I was looking to sample.

Paul is correct about MSS superior. MSS does make a pthalate free ink, which they simply call phthalate free white. I will be sampling that in the very near future. If anyone on here has tried it, I would love to hear their results.

Thanks for posting that PWalsh, I have asked that question a few times and couldn't get an answer on why such a nice white ink would be under 50 bucks a gallon. We do a lot of printing for schools and youth ect., and need to be assured that the inks we use have no phthalate, pvc, mercury,or lead. Seems like the lower cost inks contain these toxic compounds. So now, if they do make a white ink that is phthalate free, is it also free of the other toxins, and what is the cost of that ink, does anyone know?

Thanks

Right, Rutland SF-2 is not" P Walsh's  ink", it merely is one of the two in this comparison, and Peter pointed out that it is the one of the two that is Phthalate free or compliant.
He also pointed out that, in and of itself is not a deal breaker for the vast majority of shirts printed for users other than infants and toddlers.

Call Miami Screen Supply. that's what I did when I wanted to find out if they had a pthalate free ink. I posted up the info in the last MSS thread. They were very willing to answer questions about their ink. They could probably help you with the details of the other contents you are curious about. Maybe even provide you with certification.

They have 4 different whites (all low bleed):

superior: this is an auto ink
smooth: this is a little thinner and made to be manual friendly
super: kind of a middle ground between the two
these three inks are not phthalate free

The 4th is "pthalate free white". It performs closest to the superior, and is more of an auto ink
it costs $10 more per 5 gallons than the above three.

Nazdar has their own brand.  Its new.  Thats why most have never heard of it.  But it sells for 40 bucks a gallon.

But who really makes it is the question. Where do they get the raw materials from? I do not know where they get them but a lot of these places still buy the raw components from Poly One and Rutland plastics.
