one of the main reasons for needing the brighter underbase (as far as I can tell) is that the inks used for simulated process are more translucent so they look duller if the underbase is gray rather than white. Potential way around it would be to use higher opacity inks, but unfortunately, those tend not to be WOW friendly and restrict the color palette that's obtainable.

Most of our sim process prints require two strokes of white which usually does the trick. I don't think we've ever PFPF underbase for sim process, but we've had to do it few times with large areas of light color inks (lemon yellow comes to mind).

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

I'd recommend a roller squeegee in this instance after a white ub -- the white underbase becomes more optically vibrant.   At least that's how it works in N'awlins.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but is that fold not the same in all the pictures??? That is why I questioned the "print" in the first place.

Alan, typically we will only pfpf the base on a black shirt only.... All other color shirts get either 1 stroke and send it or 2 strokes and send it.... Here's another car job we printed today.... This was 1 pass on all colors 1 time around the press..... Like Pierre said it's really only because our sim process inks are more transparent to achieve good blends and we have a hard time getting some of the reds, yellows, and purples to look good on a base that isn't pfpf. But on only black shirt will we revolve.

Base White - 205 mesh

Top Colors are 230/48 and the black/highlight white is 272 newman mesh. All screens 40n.
