Yes, you can, but due to the math, you force losing your smaller dots anyways. For me, the intent for these test are to know what mesh you CAN use when you need to for those very small dots.
There is a general rule of thumb to deiced your mesh by one of these numbers.
4, 4.5 or 5.
When I need to be sure I’m holding small 2-3% dots, I’m usually using 5.
225 divided by 5 give you a 45lpi. BUT, that not to say you can’t use a 50 or 55lpi. Just know that the higher LPI you go on that mesh, the more you increase your chances for NOT holding this small dots.
A lot of people use 4. If you take 225 and divide by 4, you get 56.25 (rounded to 55lpi), but these people aren’t holding very small dots. If the art does not contain dots below say 10% then you’re golden. If any part of the art fades off to the shirt or blends out to 0%...don’t use 4.
