Newman Frame Tape
« on: Today at 10:40:53 AM »
I`ve been using the 221 White Polyken tape for years. I`m not sure when it happened, but it doesn`t stick to them screen mesh like it used to. It peels off most of the time.

Any suggestions for a replacement tape? I`ve used the yellow Newman tape, but it leaves a heavy glue adhesive on the frames.

We recently went through something similar with our regular screen tape, it started leaving terrible residue. Had been using
it for years and out of nowhere....

It makes me wonder if the current economic climate is having manufacturers dabble in less expensive components.
Shrinkflation so to speak.

That said we've tried nearly everything on our newmans and always come back to the 221. Hopefully it is just a bad run.
Some people recommend Gorilla tape but that was as bad or worse than the yellow when we tried it.

Lastly, you are degreasing before applying the tape correct? New mesh can have residual oils that will cause this issue.

I`ve always taped the screens as soon as they`re stretched and never had an issue. I`ll try the degreasing first to see if that helps. Thanks!
