Is DTF hurting your shop?
« on: Yesterday at 03:37:26 PM »
That question was ask to me by a S&S rep yesterday and the answer is on some stuff yes, it seems every soccer mom with a spare bedroom is doing DTF or at least buying print's and pressing, for one they have a direct line into school's with there kids, then they really have no overhead so they sell cheap.  We've been ask to print DTF but we only do small qty's and don't really want to invest in the larger production equipment that print's the 24" roll's....what about you guy's
Life is like Kool-Aid, gotta add sugar/hardwork to make it sweet!!

These soccer mom's -as Shane Gillis would say- are whoring out our industry and deflating the value of a custom product. High volume shops might not be effected as much, small to mid sized shops are probably finding it useful. Pivot and make it work. We do a ton of crests, hats, leather, patches etc with dtf.. anything small or really open face.... I don't even want the jobs these cricket karen's are getting. Cheer mom, cheer dad, cheer fam...pfft, go ahead..... My issue is they leave SO much money on the table by selling it cheap. The good news is I am getting a lot of feedback that the full size DTFs are failing after so many washes...... Between AI "art" and DTF, the cost of entry into this industry is under 100.00.... tanking the value of a custom shirt for all of us....

a rep from S&S that opens an account for anyone with a pulse AND sells DTF, asking a true print shop if it's hurting your sales has some rather large balls.....
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...
