Printing Boxes on the S.Roque
« on: October 25, 2013, 06:08:59 PM »
So at the end of the day today we printed some boxes and I had one of the guys record some of it. Worked out pretty slick for a small run. And while yes, I know my "stop" jig is probably one of the coolest and most sophisticated things you have ever seen, there is no need to poke fun.  ;) I do have to say, I ALWAYS forget how strong the smell of the ink is once you put retarder in it.... we all left work inadvertently on cloud 9!  8)

I got no clue how to embed a video, sorry. If someone can help me out it would be appreciated!

Thank you!  How does one go about making the video appear like magic like you did?

As far as your posted link.. Youtu.be needs to be corrected. However the video is still blocked.. YouTube is complaining about WMG (Warner Music Group) content violations. You should google how to resolve this because it may be a false block.

Ok, I am lost now. I am sorry I am clueless when it comes to social media and things like YouTube. Took me damn near a half hour to get that video on YouTube. Does the video work for other people? Because it opens when I click on it. Do I need to be doing anything? Aside from learning my a$$ from my elbow online? :D

Worked fine for me.
If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Sweet! why didn't you send them down the dryer? straight pastisol, no additive, works for us anyway. I used the suede ink before, that was badass...where do you buy your boxes?

...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

Alex, why doest the print head bring the screen down for a second time with no print stroke, after it re-floods? Just curious

We use a solvent poster ink with the quartz flash at .5 second and load them on, position the platens so the box fits up to the edge of it, after that first side is printed the boxes are rotated for the second side then stacked once both sides are done.  We can do 400-500 prints this way...M&R Diamondback so it's a slow press.

We use acrylic craft ink with a fast trip through the dryer, repeat for the second side.

Thanks guys!

We get our boxes from a local box . I have known a sales guy and printed shirts for his home bar since I opened.

The ink is just a air dry poster ink, so it is all dry in like 5 min or so depending how much retarder we put in. This was the first time we did it on the press, before we always just printed them in the basement with a tabletop and jiffy clamps.

The head goes back down because it was never told to raise. The press raises the head by itself to flood the screen. Then returns it to where it was told to have it. It is just in the settings, by default the press is set up for water based printing so it ends on a flood stroke. It is like 2 clicks to change that but after getting used to it,  I actually like it better that way.  I may of made that too complicated,  did that make sense?

Let's just say with the speed, smell, and my awesome "jig" I think we will stick to T-shirts!;)
